"Free safety Eugene Wilson, a starter on the worst secondary in the NFL this past season, was among five players placed on waivers by the Texans on Friday.

Wilson, receiver Andre Davis, linebacker Darnell Bing, linebacker Isiah Greenhouse and defensive tackle DeMario Pressley were released.

Wilson, 30. an eight-year veteran who played cornerback at New England before switching positions with the Texans, started on a defense that ranked 30th overall and 32nd against the pass. Like most of the other defensive backs, Wilson (5-10. 200) didn't play well last season.

Wilson and his teammates in the secondary failed to make plays in road losses to Jacksonville and the New York Jets — both suffered in the final seconds."
