Mike Sherman was fired as Texas A&M's coach Thursday after the Aggies finished the regular season a disappointing 6-6. Athletic director Bill Byrne announced the move in a statement. Sherman, 25-25 in four seasons at A&M, had three years remaining on his contract and the buyout will be about $5.8 million. He was given a one-year extension to his original contract in July, but it was never executed. However, Sherman believes he is owed $8.8 million, a source told ESPN.com's Joe Schad.
