VITALS: 6-8, 220 OVERVIEW: Freshman tied for the team lead at 14.4 points per game, which tied for 15th in the Atlantic Coast Conference. He showed his versatility by shooting .419 from 3-point range. Young scored in double figures 25 times and pulled down double-digit rebounds on four occasions and averaged 4.9 boards for the season. He played exceptionally well down the stretch, with a 25-point game in a victory over North Carolina and a career-high 30 point performance in an overtime loss to Wake Forest. Young also ranked second on the Yellow Jackets with 2.1 per game. LIKELY DRAFT POSITION: 15-25 COMPARATIVE UPSIDE: Tim Thomas COMPARATIVE DOWNSIDE: Sherell Ford ROLE PROJECTION: Scoring small forward who needs to be developed. A bit of a project. POSITIVES: Young has a nice-looking shot from the college 3-point distance. He has the physical tools to mix in drives with his catch-and-shoot opportunities. He has shown some rebounding potential. Young is a smooth athlete who moves well around the court. He can be unselfish and will make the pass to a teammate if he reads the play correctly. Young should be able to develop as a defender because he has above-average lateral movement and seems to have the desire necessary to turn into a solid effort defender. SHORTCOMINGS: Young does not yet have a varied arsenal of offensive moves. When defenders played up on him to challenge his shot, he either drove into traffic or was forced to make a bail-out pass. Considering his athletic ability, he didn't rebound as well as expected as a freshman. Young has plenty of physical tools but has a ways to go in terms of his understanding of the game. He may be a pretty high pick and end up doing a long stretch in the D-League.
