I have only seen Young play twice this year, but I was disappointed to a certain degree both times. I've seen him be compared to Paul Pierce and Tracy McGrady, and from what I have seen, it's not there yet. His stock has dropped considerably. Before he played at Georgia Tech, he was up there on the mock drafts as a top 5 pick (top 3 for a while), but now he is nowhere to be found in the lottery. He, along with Oden/Durant/Wright, was supposed to another star in this freshman class, but he has a LOT to work on. A lot. Oden, Durant, Wright, etc. have all proved themselves as excellent prospects thus far, while Thad has had his ups and downs. My Observations From 2 Games - He needs a ton of work on his ballhandling. - Defensively, he's better than I thought, but he still needs work. - He settles for jumpers too often. - Not always aware of what exactly is going on. But there were some strengths, no doubt: - He can shoot the ball, and he has range. - He's a good passer. I was impressed by his court vision. - He's a freak athlete, of course. - He runs the floor well. I need to see more of him, obviously (I've only seen 2 Georgia Tech games this year), but so far he hasn't lived up to the superstar hype surrounding him. Of course, he's only a freshman, but I think if he comes out this year it could be a mistake.
Love this kids potential. He can throw down dunks as well as anyone. One of the most athletic guys you can find. He has all the skills to be great, I just think he needs to put it all together.
Thadeuss Young has potential to become a Scottie Pippen type of player, like ive 100 times, when I saw him in highschool he did some crazy passes and some good shooting like you mentioned.
It seems that Thad's stock is moving back up lately. A couple of weeks ago nbadraft.net had him going in the 20s and now they have him at 13th.

There is no way Thaddeus Young drops past the 10th pick if he enters, hell I don't see him falling out of the top 7.

He is definitely top 10 right now.
I watched the UNC/Georgia Tech game last night, and I have to say, Thaddeus Young impressed me. He was running hard, nailing three's left and right, pulling up from mid-range, he made a couple impressive defensive plays. I really liked what this kid brought to the table last night. I'm not going to get carried away, I mean this was only one game (it happened to be his career night, 25 points), but he has a lot of potential. I still stand by what I've said about him though: he's not NBA ready yet.
Yeah, for a freshman, he has alotve parts of his game developed more than alotve other players coming outve highschool. IMO, he wont come out but will stay a couple yrs because next year, if he stays, Georgia Tech can be a really good team.
The kid impressed me a lot too. He shot really well and greatly carried GTech to a huge win last night .
I watch the GT game last night and thaddeus impressed me aswell. He is by far the best or close to the best on GT
Like I've been saying for the last couple months, people have taken his stock down too much. Some guys just take a while to get going...he's still having a solid year. To me he's easily a top 8 pick. Also, he's had his best games in big conference games against Duke, UNC and Maryland, he's not just beating up on poor teams. The guys averaging 14/5 and shooting 40+% from three...and he's playing with Crittenton and veteran Lewis Clinch....people are giving this guy to much crap... To me my draft list is Oden, Durant, Wright, Horford, Noah, Young, J. Wright....he's right up there for me.
