When used as originally intended the cell phone was an excellent communicative device. But as the phones got "smarter" those using them became slaves. Pretty God Damn sad that people are son undisciplined that they cannot control usage to a right time or place. Reminds me of the Pavlovian experiment with dogs and bells.
...^^^ sooo true You've got a special Mom- 59, with a good sense of reality and humor; She's seen, and knows where that line blurs ...!
...Matts, my Mom just left yesterday after spending 3-4 days with us...she insisted on making the drive herself from and back to Orlando...granted she takes her time and makes a piss stop ever couple hours but she's still pretty damn sharp...doesn't look or act her age. ... my wife and I have already told her several times not to worry about not being able to take care of herself as she gets older and though Mom protests and says she does not want to be a burden on us, there's no way in hell I'm putting my Mom in "a home"...she will stay with us. ...but as far as emails that she sends me, I never know what I'm gonna get from her...it will either be something deeply religious OR it will be the raunchiest joke you've ever heard.
Women, Mother's of her cut of clothe are rare these days, priceless gems.... Your mention of her driving to Orlando at her age, reminds me of a few elders who often did the same, nothing was too high to climb, nothing was to difficult to tackle, for Women/Mother's like Your's, mine, a few others.... Kim's Grandmother drove until she was 86 to LA and back, until one day we came upon her car slowly driving down the Freeway, just outside of town. She was driving 35 mph in the 55 slow lane... scared to death for her safety, being ran over by Semi's in that sloooow lane, (most Semi's don't even use), we had her pull over, and drove her to her destination and back, she fought with us the entire trip, and back.... She wouldn't listen to us, but within months her license was up for re-knewal, and thankfully she didn't/couldn't pass the test....
