The Bad - - The Dolphins continue to commit too many penalties and turnovers. Good teams are disciplined and limit their mistakes. This Dolphins team needs to quit shooting itself in the leg. - Gus Frerotte can't afford too many days like today. He was a big part of the turnover problem today. The Good - - Gus Frerotte did keep his cool after the interceptions and made some big throws that kept the Dolphins in the game. - The part that pleased me the most was that the Dolphins didn't fold like a house of cards after falling behind 14-0. They continued to play hard and came within five yards of winning the game. That tells me that gametime adjustments are being made effectively. Too often in the past, the Dolphins played the gameplan (assuming that Teflon Dave had one) and if it didn't work, then they were doomed. What I would really like to know is what Coach Saban has planned to help the Dolphins start committing less penalties and turnovers. That seems to be the most pressing need at the moment. Did anyone see the game and have anything to add to this assessment?
Did the best team win today? I don't know - I didn't watch. The team that excuted best did. Congrats to Buffalo. For all intents & purposes, Dale hit the nail on the head in the initial post. If memory serves, Miami committed 18 penalties. The 5 turnovers were like deja vu from the previous staff. Gus had a Feidler like performance in comitting 3 of them. You are not going to win many games w/ minus 3 in the turnover margin. The last 3 seasons the phins would have folded like a house of cards. If Nick can somehow get the turnover and penalty problems fixed then the Dolphins could contend for a wildcard. They are not a playoff team yet as the Helmet haired nimrod on the Fox pre-game show seems to think. I am just one voice crying the wilderness but Miami never plays well in the Meadowlands and rarely in Orchard Park. I am just glad that the NY road trips are done and its not yet mid October. Things will get better from here on out. Ricky can rejoin the team here in about 2.5 hrs. I am salivating at the thought of Chambers, McMichael, Booker, Brown & Williams all on the field at the same time.
yea its always a disadvantage for miami to go up there, moreso when its like december and its cold and windy and rainy/snowy
