Just too overwhelming. I find it harder to rank 20-100 than 1-20. I think this list is quite alright, not perfect, but better than other lists I've found. I think Jimmy Page should be higher while B.B. King and Kurt Cobain should be lower. Cobain in my opinion wasnt a "great" guitarist. Much more known for his lyrics than his play. In general, I think Eddie Van Halen, Slash, and Kirk Hammett are overated while people like Jerry Garcia, Johnny Ramone, and George Harrison are underated. Just to make things easier, I'll give you my Top 5. 1.Eric Clapton2.Jimmy Page3.Jimi Hendrix4.Duane Allman 5.Keith Richards
Yeah it is definitely more questionable on guitarist. If it was about who is the most advanced guitarist than that list would be much different but I guess you can pretty much pick anyone. My top 5 list would go like this. 1. Tony MacAlpine2. Joe Satriani3. Eric Johnson4. Petrucci of Dream Theater5. Al Dimeola. My list changes every week though but right now these are the ones I am listening to the most. I'm also not heavily influenced by Blues so I neglect the Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King's, and Stevie Ray Vaughn that should get noticed as well as great guitarists.
I'd be lying if I said I had enough knowledge to rank guitarists 1 - 100, but that list is not only bad, it is almost insulting. Its debatable whether Tim Duncan or KG is better, but its not debatable whether TD or Adonal Foyle is better. That's the case here. Here's a list that I helped vote on on a site that involved obsessive musical critics like myself (Most people over the age of 30). Some of these guitarists I actually have not heard of, but you can be sure the list is MUCH MUCH better. 1. Al Di Meola 2. Pat Metheny 3. Stevie Ray Vaughan 4. Phil Keaggy 5. John Petrucci 6. David Gilmour 7. Allan Holdsworth 8. John Williams 9. Jimi Hendrix 10. Andres Segovia
My Favorites1. Page2. Clapton3. Van Halen4. Hendrix5. SlashThe rest is all in there, but these are my top 5 favorites.
Is Slash on that list? I looked, but I couldn't see his name. Maybe I'm just getting old. But he deserves to at least be on the list.

At this point everytime I try playing it becomes more of me simply forcing myself to play as opposed to simply liking it.
Dave Navarro has to be on the list for his Jane's Addiction work. I have no clue why Kurt Kobain is number 11.
I think thier list takes into account their overall ability as an artist. They probably took into account song writing and how they changed music. I agree, while Cobain isnt in the class of Clapton, Page, etc, he did revolutionize the way rock was played in the early 90's. I'm thinking this is why he is so high on the list.

I have Duane, SRV, and Jimi, in any order 1-3. I?m fine with any one of those guys being #1. I got Clapton at #4 and Page at #5. I?m not sure where they would be on my list, but Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Tom Morello, Buddy Guy, Hubert Sumlin, David Gilmour, Robert Randolph would all be higher on my list. And Junior Brown would also be on my list. He?s not even on that one. That?s crazy.
