whats your prediction after all this media controversy? It looks like injuries and a clash of personalities and overall frustration just exploding. But remember the Giants have the one of the best NFC conference records in the league and more importantly have one on dallas so this sunday is extremely crucial.

I've been trying to decide if this game is more important to Dallas or to the Giants.

As for the media controversy, I think its unfortunate. IMO the media is pretty good at tweaking at players egos. So many athletes now think they have to open their flap because they are being "disrespected" or that is has something to do with pride etc.

From what I have heard, while Strahan may have said some things he shouldn't have (or at least at the wrong time), it sounds like only pieces of his original statement were taken. That changes the context. I thought Plax did a fair job of backing away with his response, but not good enough. Then Strahan had the opportunity (pre-coached by the NYG PR team) to put it to bed and he wouldn't do it. So, fine, he can be the leader of what is left of the team.

Sometimes this stuff can be over-exaggerated too. No one is giving the Giants a chance this weekend, and I disagree. If they win this one, they have the equivalent of a 1-game divisional lead, and suddenly the season changes.

I start to wonder about the leaders of this team. It seems that another coach has lost this team. Jim Fassel lost this team a few years ago. Now Coughlin seems to have lost it and the leaders of the team are the same for both coaches.

I said at the beginning of the season in this forum, and it seemed I stood alone on this at the time too, that Eli Manning was not as good as the media had made him out to be. I'm sorry to point this out, but I was right. Eli has been horrid for two months. He makes terrible decisions, which is shown through the amount of INTs he's throwing and his declining completion % also.

Even if the Giants do beat Dallas on Sunday, I don't think I can see them putting this season back together enough to win the division. They should make the playoffs again though. It would be pretty sad if they didn't with the way the NFC is shaping. I just don't see two teams who would take a wild card spot ahead of the G-Men.

I would agree with Coughlin is losing this team, but it's his own fault. He made a public statement, in response to Tiki Barber, that his door is open and that they don't need to be taking things to the media. Then, as soon as last week's game is over, he's questioning his players to the media. Saying one thing and doing the opposite isn't the way to win over your football team.

yea this team is a mess, chemistry wise. I read an article in teh New York Times says that Coughlin never really had a relationship with any of his players. And some players in response to people saying that he is losing the team that "You can't lose what you never had." pretty interesting statement. Besides the fact that Eli is playing terrible and there is absolutely no control in the lockerroom. They still have a lot of talent and if they can somehow figure a way to put their differences aside they can still be a great team. I think the egos are too big on the team to do that though

I actually don't think Eli is to much of the problem. He's certainly playing bad as of late but in my opinion he's not the primary reason. Michael Strahan, Jermey Shockey, and Tiki Barber are bad for the team. They try to be leaders but criticize everyone else but themselves. I think the leadership is awful on this team and a new coach and new plan is in need. I honestly think they should do what GB did. Clean house and build around Eli for the future.

Its funny, if they win this game vs cowboys they will be in first place and the whole perception about both teams will change. I think they win this game.

Yeah that's a good point. Even if they win though it's just a matter of time until another blow up by one of the 3 stated above. The "leaders" of this team really dissapoint.

Remember when Shockey complained about how the Seahawks were better coached than the Giants and were better prepared right? What happened after that? They won like 4 games in a row. So it may be good for them to complain, it makes headlines and are pretty fun to see what they say.

The problems from this team stem from two places...the locker room and the field. I agree that the leaders aren't pulling their load in the locker room, but Eli is a huge problem on the field. He wasn't that good last year, but all of a sudden everyone jumped on his band wagon and he got so much hype cause he was in New York and his last name is Manning. Haven't the Giants already built their offense around Manning? Burress was brought in for him...The Giants never intended for Tiki to be their guy. He was supposed to always be a 3rd down back subbing in for Ron Dayne. Things happen strangely sometimes though. The point I'm trying to make though is that this should already be Manning's team on the field and it isn't. It should also be his team off the field and it isn't, which is why there is a problem in the locker room like you said. They have too many "leaders" who don't want to be responsible. I think Tiki would receive more bad press if he wasn't so loved by the New York media, but some of the things he's said has been stupid and just letting his early retirement plans get out in midseason has been a distraction and stupid. Jeremy Shockey shouldn't even be considered a leader and someone should shove a sock in his mouth. When does he ever say anything intelligent? I like Strahan as a leader, but not the leader. Eli spoke up and was shut up by his own coach.

I don't personally think they can beat the Cowboys and it's not because of the locker room drama. They are no longer to get pressure on the QB on defense and that leaves a bad secondary vulnerable. Eli, on the other hand, will feel a lot of pressure from one of the best defenses in the league and he's been so mistake prone. The one thing that Dallas must worry about is containing the deep ball to Burress. That is what ultimately killed them in the last meeting...well that and 4 INTs...

^ I agree with MKIV (biased ofcourse) Last time this happened got it together and won 5 straight.

Sure its easy to pick on Eli when you play in 35 mile per hour wind for 2 staright weeks, then your defense bails out verse Chicago (although eli gets blame for that game which he deserves) Then you run teh ball 10 times verse Jax, and then you collapse verse Tenessee. The easy finger point is at Eli but this looks like a offensive coordinator not knowing what he is doinmg. Huffnagel isnt being mention AT ALL. Second biggest football media outlet is Texas. wait until romo has a horid game, theyll make him studder and stumble. Eli has kept his composure and has been more mature then any other "leader" on the team excluding Antonio Pierce who is doing a bang up job IMO.

If ity wasnt for Dallas having a semi good playing surface half of our team should be on teh field right now. I hope this turns into a Philadelphia- Baltimore thing during the offseason.

One last point Osi and Brandon Shirt will play and I beleive madison will as well.

He criticized his coach, but kept his composure? Say he's acting more mature than any of the other team leaders isn't saying much. He's thrown the 3rd most INTs in the league and yet he has composure? He hasn't had a good game since week 5 against Washington, but he's not to blame? Excuse me if I say that you're being a bit of an apologist for him. To me if Eli was the QB that people said he was at the beginning of the season then he would be able to take this team on his back and carry them. Instead he's got a shovel in his hands and he's helping dig their grave.

Eli did not criticize Coughlin? Tiki did as well did Jeremy Shockey. Eli admitted the throw in teh 4th was his fault. I just think you need to look at it more then you have. Sure Eli is playing like shit plain and simple but I have trust in him. You just need to be patient. Teh kids going to throw picks, because he still is a kid. Explainj to me why he is second on teh all time win/loss record going into his now 35th game. Roethlisberger only has more. Obviously he has done some things correct like take teh Giants back verse the boys in 04 or Denver in 05.

Who's talking about 04 and 05? This is 06 and in 06 he's not playing well. He's had a terrible 2 months. He hasn't made any progress. If anything, he's worse than he was in 05.

I find it ironic that Dallas was supposed to be the home of all the locker room controversy in the league, but the Giants have had more controversy than anyone else other than maybe the Bengals. Meanwhile, all is quiet in the Dallas locker room. Amazing what a QB who is performing well can do for a team.

Man, its up and down for this team this year. They played good enough to win, but the Cowboys stole one. That game was exactly like I thought it was going to be - tough all the way through. Before the game, I expected the Giants to pull it out actually.

Tiki really couldn't get going consistently and that hurt them. The refs didn't help a lot, although they made some questionable calls both ways. Above all, the mental errors hurt them the most.

That Jacobs is just a bull. He's starting to do better at learning all the responsibilities of a running back, not just running. I wonder how many carries a game he will be able to handle in the future.

I like Shockey's motor and enthusiasm, but when things are going bad for the team, he doesn't help much.

Neither team never seemed to have a good grip on the control of this game and Eli played really well. This was his first good performance since week 5 against the Redskins. For the Giants to lose despite Eli's production has to be a bit disheartening for the team, but at the same time it has to be encouraging for Eli and the coaching staff. He outplayed Romo as a whole, but that last pass that Romo threw to Witten was just pretty. That was a perfect throw without much of a window to fit the pass.

The Cowboys did a nice job of containing Tiki and not letting him out for big gains. Jacobs just seems to have his way with that defense although I was shocked to see him go east/west on that 4th and 1 play in which Demarcus Ware made a fantastic stop of the "Bull" as you called him. Jacobs lost himself on that play. If he would've gone straight ahead I think there was little doubt that he would've pushed the line for a yard. He seems to do so every other time he's in that situation. That play was key though. That cost the Giants at least 3 points and the Cowboys turned that mistake into 3 points. That's a 6 point turnaround in a game where every point was needed.

The smallest mistakes were felt in this game and the team that made the most mistakes was the one to lose. The Cowboys had more turnovers, but the Giants had 36 more penalty yards. You also have to negate one of the Cowboys turnovers because Kiwanuka had another "uh-oh" and fumbled an interception right back to the Cowboys.

Now the Cowboys are in control of the division with the toughest game on their remaining schedule happening next week in Dallas against the Saints. The Giants are faced with a dangerous road game to Carolina.

I don't really blame Jacobs. He probably would have made the yard, but it was pretty stacked inside. Dallas has a tendency to pinch too much in a case like that and are susceptible to big yardage if the back bounced outside. I think that happened succesfully for the Giants earlier, and history tells me they are probably coached to watch for that. You could see that when Jacobs made the decision, it wasn't obvious Ware had the outside contained.

One thing neither of us mentioned is the special teams. Dallas had some good field position thanks to some decent returns.

its very rare in teh NFL for bothe temas to have deserved to win a game but my hats off go to the Boys. I cant help top think about vaderjagt missing more then 1 lol. It was just a bunch of mental errors on the Giants part. Burress' Late hit was a bad one, but he didnt quite for once lol. I thought the referee's did mediocre as well. I felt that Henry got an undeserved penalty, but I also felt that the out of bounds play was a lot closer then the slow motion showed. At game speed tahts not a penaly IMO.

Im definetely encouraged by the performance and last time teh Giants were 6-6 they won 4 staright and went to the super bowl [IMG] A little optimism never hurt.

he isnt. idk where you heard that stat, but its entirely false. im not 100% positive, but i believe through 36 games, McNabb was 24-12.... i believe Manning is 18-18. Explain how that is better than 24-12.
