Top four make the FIFA U-17 World Cup this summer and Mexico isn't in the tournament as the host nation. Should be an easy qualification for the US. Here's what I predict based on pure speculation: Group A - Costa Rica, El Salvador Group B - United States, Panama Group C - Jamaica, Trinidad Group D - Canada, Honduras Quarter Finals: Costa Rica over Panama United States over El Salvador Jamaica over Honduras Canada over Trinidad Semi-Finals: United States over Costa Rica Jamaica over Canada Finals: United States over Jamaica No surprises. Thought about Guatemala over Trinidad, but don't see it happening.
Injury time goal lifts Honduras U-17s 2-1 MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica - Eder Velasquez scored an injury time winner and Honduras defeated Barbados 2-1 Tuesday at the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship. The goal off a corner completed "Los Catrachos'" rally from an early first-half deficit and spoiled Barbados' debut at the CONCACAF U-17 finals. Barbados had the early advantage, taking the lead in the 15th minute lead, when Zari Prescod found himself alone in the box and easily beat goalkeeper Roberto Lopez Henry scores two, T&T ties Jamaica 2-2 MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica - Shackiel Henry scored a pair of second-half goals to give Trinidad a 2-2 draw with Caribbean rival Jamaica on Tuesday at the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship. After Jamaica led on Jason Wright's first-half penalty, Trinidad surged ahead before Romario Williams equalized for the "Young Boyz" in the 70th minute. Jamaica had the better of play, outshooting Trinidad 16-7, and went ahead on Wright's penalty in the 42nd minute. It was unclear if Mexican referee Ricardo Arellano whistled for a handball or another foul against Trinidad's Neil Benjamin, but the 16-year-old Wright converted easily, leaving goalkeeper Quesi Weston with no chance http://www.concacaf.com/page/Home/0,,12813,00.html
Haiti withdraws from U-17 Championship NEW YORK - The Haitian Football Federation informed CONCACAF Tuesday evening that it can no longer field a team at the confederation's Under-17 Championship in Montego Bay, Jamaica, due to an illness that has struck members of its delegation. The team will be returning to Haiti as soon as possible. Haiti lost its tournament opener on Monday 3-1 to Costa Rica and was scheduled to face El Salvador on Wednesday. As a result of Haiti's withdrawal, El Salvador will be awarded a 3-0 win. That match was to be the first of a doubleheader at Jarrett Park. Sad story regarding the alleged mis-treatment of the Haiti squad. Depending on what you're looking at, Haiti either left due to illness, or were booted off the island by the Jamaican government after suspected cholera was found in the sick players. Story from the Miami Herald.

Tried watching US v. Jamaica. Tough to keep an interest with the intermittent vuvuzelas and a horrendous pitch that didn't really allow the players to play much. I haven't really seen much about this squad, but I think its a down year for the group as last cup's group featured Stefan Jerome, Sebastian Lletget, Joseph Gyau, Jack McInerney, Juan Agudelo, Carlos Martinez, Perry Kitchen, and Luis Gil.

Sweet Seventeens What we learned from magical runs by US, Canada For the United States U-17 national team: their run in Jamaica finished in wild success. They wrapped the CONCACAF Championship with a 3-0 victory over Canada on Sunday to hoist their first title in the tournament in 19 years and booked a record 14th consecutive berth in the U-17 World Cup in the process. But that doesn't tell the whole story. Here are five things we learned about Wilmer Cabrera's team http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/commentary-us-u-17-crown-hides-shortcomings ************************************************************ For the Canada U-17 national team: Despite a disappointing end to the tournament, Canada can take a lot of positives out of their second-place finish at the CONCACAF U-17 Championships. Before last week’s tough 1-0 victory over Panama in the quarterfinals, Canada had not qualified for the FIFA U-17 World Cup since 1995. It was a frustrating 16-year absence for the Canucks, more so when considering that Canada’s U-20 side is a regular participant in the World Cup. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/commentary-tfc-van-academies-power-canada
