the eighties is the best decade of nba basketball ever! there were the greats like Magic Johnson, Bird, Stockton, Barkley, Dr. J, Moses Malone, Michael Jordan, Kareem, and many more. the was competitive basketball every night, and every nba finals was exciting and went to game six or game 7. every team had superstars, and there was team basketball. its not that one person stands out the most on their team without no one surrounding them. almost each star player had someone on his team that had almost the same amount of talent or more. which decade do you think is the best? and explain your opinion.

I agree with you man. It's really hard to top the 80s era of basketball. Althoguh I wasn't even born til late 80s, the competetivness every night in and out. The hunger every team had, and pride they carried. It was reallly intense.

Considering I didn't start watching basketball til the mid-90s, I can't say that the 80s was the best. I actually really can't say what decade was the best cause I haven't been watched long enough to see a full decade and I've only been around for one entire decade in general. To me, the best is yet to come cause I feel that the NBAs future is bright with all the up and coming talent in the league.

While I certainly agree that the 80's cannot be topped... I really like that statement right there...

I think with the infusion of unimaginable athletes in every coming rookie class (every year they get more and more obsurdly athletic)... along with the fact that Detroit showed that team basketball still wins...

i think there will be a revisiting of sharing the ball more... and i know that's what makes me go nuts the most... so thumbs up to optomism.

most people suggest that the contemporary nba is a diluted league with expansion and guaranteed contracts to unproven high school kids. yet they omit the drastic difference and that is the internationalization of the game. every continent is represented today, the nba today truly is the collection of the worlds best basketball players. u can't say that about baseball where many japanese and cuban superstars feel more comfortable playing in their home countries, same thing with hockey with europeans choosing to stay home and football is still a regional north american sport that u can't even consider. likewise, Sabonis never played and countless other european stars never played in the 80?s nba,

today's nba is much more meritocratic, including the worlds stars and athletic. to that end, many of these "athletes" haven't cultivated the corresponding skills like shooting, which i think was dramatically better in the 80's. nonetheless, its so hard to compare era's but one thing i know is that tim duncan, kg, ai, kobe and shaq would have dominated the 80's as well.

Yes, the future looks bright. Like they say, history repeats its self.

The rookie class with LeBron, Daniels, Bosh, Melo, Wade, Hinrich, etc.

Is awesome. Also, the fact that the Championship team was rewarded by hard work and team work.

Note your self: The superstars of today can play against the stars of the 80s (like an all-star game). As teams in general, they were better because of fundamentals (moving the ball, hitting the open shot...Even the no-namers would be mid-range wizards) but today the defense is way more outta control, just like the Zen master said.

Get rid of the zone rules, better chem. = better b-ball= higher scores= more ratings= golden age again.

It's getting their folks..Just wait...a few more years...it will be exciting.

The 90s were also awesome with KJ, Kemp, Payton, Pippen, Jordan, LJ, Zo, Mullin, Ewing, Malone, Stockton, Pack, manning, Sir Charles, Price, Kenny Anderson, PENNY (better than t-mac...i dunno), etc. THe 90s was a more athletic 80s.

I just wish I can go back in time, and watch those games...especially MJ..

Why do ppl complain about today's game with flashy dunks, and cross overs.

Personally, I think there were more dunkers, and more dunks back in the day.

You will see what I mean after seeing Super Slams..or DUNKS!

80's all the way to 93 was great. Because of Magic and Bird attendance boosted up and felt confident about having those expansion teams. Orlando and Charlotte and almost every game in the NBA had triple digit scores. Show Time Lakers, Boston Celtics Bird, Kevin M, The Chief, Danny Ainge, etc..., Pistons bad boys. The 80's was a superb era no doubt.

I havent really seen much of the 80s era since I was born in 87, so I have to say I think the 90s were better, thats not to say the 80s sucked, I know that was a good era for B-Ball.
