Name which player is going to be the following things. The 1st Round Steal Of the Draft: The 2nd Round Steal Of the Draft: The Best Player Of the Draft: The Bust Of the Draft: The Best Dunker Of the Draft: The Best Defender Of the Draft: The Best Shooter Of the Draft: You can also add more if you think of any.
The 1st Round Steal Of the Draft: Jarret Jack Although he is rated fairly higher than people expected him to go, I think Jack has limitless potential at the point guard position. He reminds me of a young Sam Cassell. The 2nd Round Steal Of the Draft: Matt Walsh and/or Ryan Gomes Each of them were extremely good and smart college players, Matt Walsh is the closest to Larry Bird that I've seen in recent years. The Best Player Of the Draft: Marvin Williams Watching Williams play as a freshman in college on a team loaded with talent was such a joy, and he held his own against the best in the nation. This kid is really something. The Bust Of the Draft: Channing Frye In my opinion, he's way too overrated. A close second in this category is Charlie Villanueva followed by anyone with as many vowels than consonants in their last names. The Best Dunker Of the Draft: Hakim Warrick or Marvin Williams Each of these guys are very athletic and can thrown down all over NBA talent. The Best Defender Of the Draft: Ike Diogu or Joey Graham Each of these guys were great defenders in college, Diogu more in the post and Graham a high post defender. Diogu reminds me alot of a poor man's Charles Barkley/Larry Johnson. The Best Shooter Of the Draft: Salim Stoudamire or Francisco Garcia Each of these two guys is cash money from mid to long range. They're both also eager to strut their sheeeeeeeet in the NBA.
The 1st Round Steal Of the Draft: | Ryan Gomes | He's really going to benefit from teammates that are actually good. He's ready to contribute right away, and I see him having a long NBA career. I'm also in love with him. The 2nd Round Steal Of the Draft: | Luther Head | Nobody realizes how good he is because he played behind Deron Williams and Dee Brown. The Best Player Of the Draft: | Andrew Bogut | Big men are the most integral parts of championship teams. There are a lot of great swingmen in the draft, but those are about a dime a dozen nowadays. The Bust Of the Draft: | Sean May | Big boy is in for a rude awakening when he realizes he can't bully his way to the basket in the pros. The next Oliver Miller, except not as good. The Best Dunker Of the Draft: | Nate Robinson | He's 5'8". The Best Defender Of the Draft: | Ike Diogu | His wingspan is so insane that he should be able to guard 3 guys at once. The Best Shooter Of the Draft: | Francisco Garcia | I'd pick Salim, but I don't think he's going to play very much in the NBA (think Trajan Langdon). Garcia is 6'7" and his quick shot reminds me of Michael Redd's.
The 1st Round Steal Of the Draft: Sean May - I don't think there's anyone in the mid-to-late first round who's going to be a star on the next level, but Sean May is definitely going to be a starter in the league for years to come. During the draft process, teams obsess over stupid things like height, but in the long run it doesn't really matter. The 2nd Round Steal Of the Draft: Rawle Marshall - He has become a trendy second round pick in most mock drafts recently after his performance in Chicago, but if you look back, you'll see that I've been supporting this guy ever since everyone was bashing Oakland, a team with a sub-.500 record, for making the tournament. If there's a Rashard Lewis or Gilbert Arenas in this year's draft, it's Marshall. The Best Player Of the Draft: Andrew Bogut - I'm tired of everyone thinking that the only reason he's a #1 pick is because he's big. Too many times I hear, "Marvin is more talented, but Bogut is more useful because of his size". That's not true at all. Bogut will be a franchise player in the league for years to come. The Bust Of the Draft: Gerald Green - I was tempted to pick Channing Frye here because his unorthodox rise in stock, but I believe he'll at least be a solid role player in the league. I picked Green here just because his stock is currently around #3-5, which is way too high for a player who won't likely be productive for a few years. He has the talent to be a star, but there are too many question marks about him. I think that people got too excited about a few sources ranking him as the #1 player in this year's High School class, and they don't realize it's a relatively weak class. The Best Dunker Of the Draft: David Lee - If anyone saw him in the High School dunk contest, they'd understand this pick. A guy like Hakim Warrick or Danny Granger may look more impressive with their speed, length, and athleticism, but for his size Lee has a lot of tricks up his sleeve. The Best Defender Of the Draft: Danny Granger - This is without a doubt the easiest pick I've made so far. He's quick, lengthy, and a great shotblocker. He also averaged more than two blocks and steals per game last season for the Lobos. The Best Shooter Of the Draft: Salim Stoudamire - I was stupid enough to think that J.J. Redick was the best shooter in the NCAA until last season when I saw Stoudamire go off against UCLA in January. Playing at Arizona, a lot of people were in bed by the time his games came on television, so he's still underrated by a lot of people, but shooting 50% from behind the arc is no fluke. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The 1st Round Steal Of the Draft: | Ryan Gomes | He's really going to benefit from teammates that are actually good. Note to 44: You have to be picked in the 1st round to be a 1st round steal. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Bust Of the Draft: | Sean May | Big boy is in for a rude awakening when he realizes he can't bully his way to the basket in the pros. I actually got to see some of the Grizzlies' workouts yesterday, and Sean May looked very athletic. At one point he even ran the length of the floor for a dunk you'd expect to see out of a Marvin Williams or Danny Granger. It just seems like he's really been working on his body. Comparing him to Oliver Miller is pretty harsh. May is more talented and more athletic. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The 2nd Round Steal Of the Draft: | Luther Head | Nobody realizes how good he is because he played behind Deron Williams and Dee Brown. </div> I think everyone realized how talented he was last year. Afterall, he was a starter and the team's leading scorer. The only thing keeping him out of the first round is his height. He's undersized for a Shooting Guard and scouts question whether or not he can play the point. I probably would have called him the steal of the 2nd round myself, but he's really pushing the first round.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Voodoo Child:</div><div class="quote_post">The Bust Of the Draft: Gerald Green - I was tempted to pick Channing Frye here because his unorthodox rise in stock, but I believe he'll at least be a solid role player in the league. I think Green will take some time to develop but after a few years be good. Do you think that he could be a pretty good player in a few years?
The 1st Round Steal Of the Draft: Julius Hodge-very cerebral player The 2nd Round Steal Of the Draft: Luther Head-he may go 1st round The Best Player Of the Draft: Andrew Bogut-proven with a mean streak The Bust Of the Draft: Chris Taft/Charlie Villanueva-cant decide-they are both bums The Best Dunker Of the Draft: Hakim Warrick: everything at Syracuse was a dunk-Nate Robinson and David Lee get honorable mentions The Best Defender Of the Draft: I dont know. Not too many of these cats play D-I would have to say Bogut because he covers a lot of space and he is relatively nimble for a 7 footer-He will alter a lot of shots in the league The Best Shooter Of the Draft: Salim Stoudemire-The best shooter in college basketball the two years-If he were 3 inches taller he would be a lotto pick
The 1st Round Steal Of the Draft: Hakim Warrick.- He is supposed to go 15-25.... He is going to be a steal. He is tearing it up in Workouts. The 2nd Round Steal Of the Draft: Nate Robinson.- He was amazing for Washington and im suprised he aint goin in 1st round. He should be a steal for whoever gets him. The Best Player Of the Draft: Marvin Williams.- He has the most upside and i think he will come out the best player The Bust Of the Draft: Chris Taft.- with teh workouts he is having, i think he is gonna turn out bad. The Best Dunker Of the Draft: Gerald Green.- Highschool Dunk Contest Winner. He got some hops! The Best Defender Of the Draft: Ike Diogu - was a mean defender in college i think he will continue in NBA The Best Shooter Of the Draft: Salim Stoudemire- he shoots lights out
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Swish15:</div><div class="quote_post">Wow that's interesting. I think Green will take some time to develop but after a few years be good. Do you think that he could be a pretty good player in a few years?</div> Who knows, he's so raw right now and such an unknown that it's unfair to really put any expectations on him, which is why I think there's a good chance that the people who see him as a #3 pick will be disappointed at what he ends up doing in his career. It's too easy to get excited about High School talent. I remember when DeShawn Stevenson was Michael Jordan part two. If I had to make a guess, I'd say he'll be a starter, maybe even a team's first option, but the Tracy McGrady comparisons are a little off. Do you see where I'm coming from now?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Voodoo Child:</div><div class="quote_post">Note to 44: You have to be picked in the 1st round to be a 1st round steal.</div>Hey, if he slips into the second round, then that'll make him even more of a steal. I don't see a way that he drops that low, but perhaps my over-the-top love affair with him impairs my judgement.
First Round Steal: Francisco Garcia .. I love the guy, an absolutely amazing shooter, I feel that he will be a good shooter in the NBA. I may be far off from this prediction, but I would take the risk on the player. I hope the Rockets aquire another late first rounder in order to draft him. Second Round Steal: Ryan Gomes .. Fantastic player, good vision, not good enough to be a first rounder, but easily can contribute and strut his stuff. Best Player: Andrew Bogut .. He's got a huge amount of confidence in himself, easily the best big-man coming out of the draft, he's ready to make some noise. Not a great athlete, but not a bad one, I think he's got some tricks up his sleeve .. he'll make a bang. Biggest Bust: Gerald Green .. I am with VC on this one. Green's agent is an absolute dumbass, and highschool kids are always a gamble. Like VC said, the McGrady comparison is off, and I don't feel like he's gonna be a superstar, but I may very well be wrong. Best Dunker: Hakim Warrick .. He's a shoe in for this. I was watching a compilation of him a few minutes ago, that guy is an athletic monkey. He seriously can throw it down, better than Stro, or any other emphatic dunker that I know of. Best Defender: Danny Granger/Ike Diogu .. Ike has got the lengthy arms and what-not, but Granger blocks shots and steals. I see Granger as a better defender now, but Ike can really develop into a monster in a few years. Best Shooter: Salim Stoudamire/Francisco Garcia .. Just saw some clips of Salim, and he can really light it up, but his size and the fact that teams will body him up might make him not as good a shooter. Garcia, can roll of picks and sort of develop into that Reggie Miller type player, even though he can't shoot as well as Reggie. For now, Salim gets it, but Garcia can really become a great shooter.
The 1st Round Steal Of the Draft: <font color="Black">Wayne Simien </font> Averages a double-double but why in the late 20s? Hes a great player and he does a great job and averaged 20.8 with the JayHawks The 2nd Round Steal Of the Draft: <font color="RoyalBlue">Linaz Kleiza</font> Averaged 16.8 ppg and 9 rpg with Missouri. Great 3 Point shooter and can run fast for a power forward and is good at achieving fouls. The Best Player Of the Draft: <font color="Indigo">Andrew Bogut</font>Hes going no.1 isn't he? The Bust Of the Draft: Martynas Andriuskevicius averaged 4 ppg in the Euroleague. Whats he useful for? The Best Dunker Of the Draft: <font color="Sienna">Mindaugas Katelynas</font>. Won the dunk contest in college The Best Defender Of the Draft: <font color="MediumTurquoise">Ike Diogu.</font> Could be on the defensive team in 3 years or so. The Best Shooter Of the Draft: <font color="Teal">Marvin Williams or Salim Stoudamire</font>. Both are great shooters and are great when the game is on the line.
The 1st Round Steal Of the Draft: Jarret Jack - I can see him slipping on draft day but this kid can play. Tough, physical, great defender and underrated scorer. If he goes outside the top 10 as expected, then he is a big steal for mine. The 2nd Round Steal Of the Draft: Luther Head - behind Deron Williams and Dee Brown, people forget just how good Luther is. He reminded people in Chicago, but I still see him going in the early second. John Gilchrist could be another if he sorts out his mental issues on the court, uber talented but too selfish and bratty. The Best Player Of the Draft: Andrew Bogut - polished and seven feet tall. He will be an All-Star within two seasons. The Bust Of the Draft: Martynas Andriuskevicius - as far as I know he's still in the draft, and just looking at his body rings alarm bells. The Best Dunker Of the Draft: Nate Robinson - simply due to his height. He will dunk on seven footers, and he's 5'8 FFS! The Best Defender Of the Draft: Joey Graham - has Artest like potential as a power defender on the perimeter. Just shades Danny Granger here. The Best Shooter Of the Draft: Salim Stoudamire - will stick in the NBA purely because the outside jumper is a lay-up for him. He is a freak. You can also add more if you think of any: No.
The 1st Round Steal Of the Draft: Francisco Garcia- He can play 3 positions and is a very good shooter. The 2nd Round Steal Of the Draft: Juwad Williams- Juwad struggled last year, but look at what he can do, Shoot an 18-footer, block shots, post up, and is a very experienced player. The Best Player Of the Draft: Andrew Bogut- Who can argue with this, 7-footer, can do just bout everything. The Bust Of the Draft: Chris Taft/Charlie Villanueva- Both are lazy, and have bad work ethics. The Best Dunker Of the Draft: Nate "The Great" Robinson- This guy is 5'9" and he can throw it down like no other. My second best Dunker is Isma'il Muhammad out of Georgia Tech, this guy is 5'11" and can jump higher than most sub-6 footers. The Best Defender Of the Draft: Deron Williams- He shut down Francisco Garcia and Salim Stoudamire in this year's March Madness, how can you argue with this. The Best Shooter Of the Draft: Salim Stoudamire- This guy shoot 90% from the Stripe, makes 3-point shot like lay-ups, and can drive to make the short jumper. The Best International Player of the Draft: Andrew Bogut- Hey he's from Australia, Mate. The Best Player Best Little School Player of the Draft- Danny Granger- He can do just bout anything you ask him to do.
1st Round Steal: Sean May Everyone's complaining about the fact that his size isn't ideal, but this guy improved when he had to in college, and he's played great against the best opposition he's faced time and time again. 2nd Round Steal: Nate Robinson He's going to provide great energy off the bench or maybe in a starting role for whoever is smart enough to grab this mighty mite. If Julius Hodge falls to the second round, I'd put him here instead of Robinson. I was really tempted to put my boy Mike Wilkinson here just to shove his name in everyone's face again, but he'll probably never be more than a role player Best Player of the Draft: Deron Williams I'm prepared for everyone to call me crazy now. I think that Marvin Williams will be an All Star for many years, and Andrew Bogut will be one of the better centers in the league for a long time, but Williams is the kind of PG that will win you championships. He has remarkable vision, has quality shooting range, can post other guards, plays outstanding defense, and is a leader. If this guy hasn't led some team to an NBA title within 5 years of being drafted, I renounce all my credibility as a journalist. This is kind of like picking the mvp of a league rather that the league's best player. He may not end up the best player of this draft, but he will do more for his team than anyone else. Bust of the Draft: Chris Taft Do I really even need to explain this pick? I wish I had that much talent to be lazy with... Best Dunker: Nate Robinson/Martell Webster Robinson gets major props because he's such a showman in such a tiny package, but Webster is an athletic freak a la Josh Smith who will be a crowd-pleaser from the get-go. Best Defender: Diogu/Graham/Williams I decided that since I couldn't pick just one guy, I'd pick one at each position: post, wing, and backcourt. Diogu has a ridiculous body and wingspan, and he works his butt off against mostly bigger opponents. Graham shadows his man all around the court, hand checking and keeping his arms up every time his man thinks he's got a shot. And Williams sticks on his man no matter how good the opponent; witness his shutdowns of Chris Paul early last college season and Salim Stoudamire in the NCAAs. Best Shooter: Fransisco Garcia This guy will carve out his living in the NBA by nailing jumpers. I see him as a poor man's Reggie Miller; a lithe, smart, ready to stick a dagger in your heart with 0.4 on the clock every time type of guy.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting J_Ray:</div><div class="quote_post">I agree With Deron Williams, Schaddy. I like how you were willing to take a beating.</div> I don't figure it'll be too bad. You guys all love me, right?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting HASAN33:</div><div class="quote_post">The 1st Round Steal Of the Draft: Julius Hodge-very cerebral player The 2nd Round Steal Of the Draft: Luther Head-he may go 1st round The Best Player Of the Draft: Andrew Bogut-proven with a mean streak The Bust Of the Draft: Chris Taft/Charlie Villanueva-cant decide-they are both bums The Best Dunker Of the Draft: Hakim Warrick: everything at Syracuse was duck-Nate Robinson and David lee get honorable mentions The Best Defender Of the Draft: I dont know. Not too many of these cats play D-I would have to say Bogut because he covers a lot of space and he is relatively nimble for a 7 footer-He will alter a lot of shots in the league The Best Shooter Of the Draft: Salim Stoudemire-The best shooter in college basketball the two years-If he were 3 inches taller he would be a lotto pick</div> 1st round steal = Fran vazquez (should be top3 IMO) 2nd round steal = Angelo Gigli bust of draft = Raymond Felton best player = Fran Vazquez dunker of draft = Gerald Green defender of draft = Andrew Bogut
The 1st Round Steal Of the Draft: Danny Granger, he will be one of those players where you will looks five years from now and go "Wow there were seven players pick in front of him..." The 2nd Round Steal Of the Draft: Sean Banks, yes the attitude problems are a concern but this kid has the talent of a top 15 pick. If anything I see him being a decent player off the bench for a team. The Best Player Of the Draft: Any of the point guards, that's right, Felton, Paul, and Deron Williams are the players that I feel are on other levels than the other players in the draft. Great point guard class this year. Danny Granger right behind the point guards for the best player though... The Bust Of the Draft: Gerald Green. I was never high on this kid and the fact that he has to have his own little invatation to come to a workout makes it definitely worse. The Best Dunker Of the Draft: Martell Webster/Gerald Green. Sure Gerald Green can dunk but where is that going to get him in the NBA. There are a lot of guys that can dunk. The only positive about dunking is that you have more potential to get a shoe contract The Best Defender Of the Draft: Danny Granger. Yes his name again, he can block, steal, he is so quick I don't know if there is anybody close to this kid defensivly. The Best Shooter Of the Draft: Rashad Mccants. You know I had to get his name in here some where, when the clock is ticking down I want the ball in Rashad's hands not Salim "Lets go 2-13 in an NCAA Tourny Game" Stoudamire.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting CourtKing:</div><div class="quote_post">not Salim "Lets go 2-13 in an NCAA Tourny Game" Stoudamire.</div> Ray Allen had a couple of bad shooting nights in the playoffs, does that make him a bad shooter? You don't fluke above 50% in a season, especially when a lot of those threes are NBA distance and with men in his face, so picking out one bad shooting night is a bit rich.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Pwn3d!:</div><div class="quote_post">The only positive about dunking is that you have more potential to get a shoe contract </div> Thank you for saying this. It's one of the most worthless things when evaluating a kid's potential; I'd rather see if the guy can shoot, defend, pass and rebound. Being a showman is nice, but you've got to have substance to your game. Not to say that dunking isn't a part of basketball, and guys who do it well are very entertaining, but too much emphasis is often placed here and I'm glad that people can look past it when evaluating talent.
