After EliteXC shot down rumours of an Antonio Silva/Sergei Kharitonov title fight, like a weightless dream drifting into the atmosphere being sucked into a rattling engine of Gary Shaw's blood money personal jet, Silva's actual opponent is supposedly about to be announced; his name: Justin Eilers. Yes, Justin Eilers. The first heavyweight title in MMA being fought for on network television, too. This is a complete disgrace and it flies in the face of Shaw's criticisms of the UFC and their match making. This is yet another example of EliteXC trying to build up fighters rather than let them become stars through triumph.

Don't tell EliteXC that guys like Roy Nelson, Mark Hunt, Kevin Randleman, Jeff Monson, Igor Vovchanchyn, Gary Goodridge, Don Frye, and--oh, I dunno--Bob F'ing Sapp are waiting in the wings while he offers a title fight to Justin 'kick my head off' Eilers. He isn't interested. He thinks he's running a boxing federation where people only pay attention when the main guy is undefeated or 30-1. MMA fans generally don't give a shit what the records are but they know who is a good fighter and what makes a good fight.

Justin Eilers, for those who don't know, is one of Pat Miletich's students. His last significant fight was in March of 07 against Pedro Rizzo at Art of War, which was a unanimous decision loss for Eilers. Some time before that he was a UFC fighter--or UFC fodder--suffering three consecutive first-round knockouts to Paul Buentello, Andrei Arlovski, and Brandon Vera.

ugh, what crap..... at least it should be an obvious night for the pick'em league [IMG]

I will LMAO if Eillers wins.. anything can happen in an MMA fight.. ask Kimbo about that [IMG]

IMO Shaw is living proof how boxing promoters being involved in MMA would ruin the sport. Hell the Don King's of the world have already ruined boxing, why let them ruin MMA?

This guy is a joke and a farce and yet MMA fans have to hope Elite XC succeeds on network cable or the sport will never grow.. talk about a win/lose proposition.
