Steve Francis is a ball hog.
    Steve Francis's Shot Attempts:
    99-00: 14.5
    00-01: 15.2
    01-02: 17.6
    02-03: 16.2
    --------------
Career FG Attempts Per Game= 15.9
THAT IS HARDLY ANY FOR A SUPERSTAR!
Others PGs fg attempts per game
    Marbury- 18.9
    Payton- 18.3
    Jason Kidd- 15.6
Those players are never considered ball hogs.

Nice job in backing it up with stats! Your right, those are low shot attempts for a superstar.

what are the average shot attempts of his team mates? How many more free throws does he shoot than his team mates? How many times does he turn the ball over (I know his assists). Those are all good indicators of "hogging" a player does.

Also it's not just the stats, you can tell by the players' style of play or attitude whether he hogs the ball or not. It is clear to loads of basketball fans and experts alike that Francis passes up clear opportunities to give the ball up to Ming or anyone else in good scoring situations to try and do more by himself.

shot attempts aren't everything - if u have a guy who can score in the post like yao can ur shot attempts should be lower than his for a point guard, bcos someone like that should always be the focal point on offense. that said it was probly rudy's fault that happened

You are totally right HoopsCentral it is a huge miscoception that Francis is a shoot-first PG. He isnt a PG naturally, he is a SG playing the point because we dont have a point. Francis doesnt shoot alot considering he is naturally a SG however he does get to the paint quite a bit. Look for his shots per game it go up, and Mobley's to go down this year. I expect this year's offense to be based aroung the big man.
