The Cavaliers "War Room" - Poster Mock

    <u>All Cavs Fans:</u>

Justbball.com will be putting together 2 mocks drafts as part of an ON-SITE contest, shortly after the NBA lottery Draft on May 26th.

One mock will be done by the <font color="DarkRed">moderators/admins </font> and the other will be by the <font color="DarkRed">posters of JBB</font>. It's going to be a little contest to see who can get a more accurate mock for draft day. Please remember, <u>It's all for fun.</u> [IMG]

As you can see, a few posters have been asked to help with pulling together the posters mock draft. <font color="DarkRed"><u>We need your help </u> </font> and input to do this, so now we're coming to you!

    <font color="Navy"><u>Here's what we need (i.e.- the RULES):</u></font>

    1. Posters interested in having thier draft thoughts considered should submit, up to 5 names of players that you think your team will want to draft on draft day. Remember that these need to be realistic, not pipe dreams. Up to 5 players that you believe your team is scouting and may take in the drafts first round.

    2. For those who are really into mocks, you may submit to us via PM <font color="DarkRed">(please)</font> your entire first round mock. <u>It must be complete however</u>. We realize that this is going to be more difficult, given that the lottery places are yet to be filled. However, we'll accept submissions up to midnight, May 28th EST. <font color="DarkRed"><font size="1">(After that, anything recieved will have to wait to be included in any updates we make after releasing the mock)</font></font>

    3. If you are going to propose a trade with any of your draft picks (Maximum limit = 1 draft related trade proposal), JUSTIFICATION must be provided. It must be reasonable and work under the CBA. Any trades proposed without this information <u>WILL BE DISCARDED</u> without further thought.

This announcement will be posted and stickied in all team forums as well, so please try to participate if you have ideas. We want the posters mock to be a quality one that can stand side by side with the mods mock.

Thanks and we look forward to your comments.

<font size="1"><font color="DarkRed">Those with full mocks, can submit them up to May 27th VIA PM, to og15, wtwalker77 or hagrid.</font></font>

10th Pick. What to do with it?

Well Silas made it clear, we need a wingman or a back up pg. Below is a list of very good possibilities with our 10th pick.

    <font color="Navy">Josh Childress: Stanford</font>
    Position: SF
    Height: 6-8
    Weight: 205 lbs
    Born: 6/20/83
    Hometown: Lakewood, California

    Strengths:
An all-around player... Can do a little bit of everything... Long arms... Very competitive.
Weaknesses: Strong enogh for the NBA?
    Comparison: George Gervin
    Stats: 15.2ppg 7.4 rpg, 2/7 apg 47.3 FG%

    - Would be a great complementary player next to LeBron. He can carry an offensive load. He is my 1st choice.

    <font color="Navy">Josh Smith: Oak Hill Academy</font>
    Position: SF
    Height: 6-8
    Weight: 214 lbs
    Born: 12/05/85
    Hometown: Powder Springs Georgia

    Strengths:
Very athletic... Runs the floor well... Good shooter... Lots of upside.
Weaknesses: Should be more aggressive... Ballhandling needs work
    Comparison: Al Harrington
    Stats: 16.2 ppg, 12.0 rpg, 6.0 bpg

-Do the Cavs want another highschooler? It would be a shame if we passed him down the road and he becomes a huge impact in the league.

    <font color="Navy">Jameer Nelson: Saint Joseph's</font>
    Position: PG
    Height: 6-0
    Weight: 214 lbs
    Born: 2/09/82
    Hometown: Chester, Pennsvlvania

    Strengths:
Very talanted... One of the best playmakers in college basketball... Superb defender on the ball.
Weaknesses: Too small... Not a threat from beyond the arc... Not a great athlete.
    Comparison: Damon Stoudamire
    Stats: 20.6 ppg, 5.3 apg, 4.7 rpg, 2.9 spg

-With Ben Gordan probably going top 5, that leaves Jameer awaiting to go to a team that needs a leader. I've seen a few games that he played in. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

    <font color="Navy">Devin Harris : Wisconsin</font>
    Position: PG
    Height: 6-3
    Weight: 185 lbs
    Born: 2/27/83
    Hometown: Milwaukee, Wisconsin

    Strengths:
Great scoring skills... Can really shoot the ball... Good vision of the court... Very quick and intense
Weaknesses: Needs to add strength... A true point guard?
    Comparison: Gilbert Arenas
    Stats: 19.4 ppg, 4.4 apg, 4.4 rpg 44.8 FG%

-Could be a great backup for McInnis and would also bring that offensive spark off the bench.

    <font color="Navy">Andre Iguodala : Arizona</font>
    Position: SG
    Height: 6-6
    Weight: 200 lbs
    Born: 1/28/84
    Hometown: Springfield, Illinois

    Strengths:
Outstanding athelete... Good rebounding and passing skills... Nice ballhandling skills.
Weaknesses: Not a scorer... Inconsistent jump shot... Turnover prone.
    Comparison: Desmond Mason
    Stats: 12.7 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 5.1 apg 46.0 FG%

Ricky is gone, Darius is gone... we need another athlete.

    <font color="Navy">Andris Biedrins : Skonto Riga (Latvia)</font>
    Position: PF
    Height: 7-0
    Weight: 240 lbs
    Born: 4/02/86
    Hometown: Riga (Latvia)

    Strengths:
Very good athlete... Good shot blocker... Good rebounder... Really big.
Weaknesses: Has not faced serious competition... Offensive game needs polish... Won't contribute right away.
    Comparison: Darko Milicic
    Stats: 18.6 ppg, 8.2 rpg

Paxon seems to like him. With Zydrunas aging, this move wouldn't be a bad idea.

    <font color="Navy">JR Smith : St. Benedict's Prep School (HS)</font>
    Position: SG
    Height: 6-6
    Weight: 210 lbs
    Born: 11/09/85
    Hometown: Newark, New Jersey

    Strengths:
Great outside shooter... Excellent athlete... Outstanding leaping skills.
Weaknesses: Has to work on ballhandling... Mediocre mid-range game... Doesn't pass the ball much.
    Comparison: Vince Carter
    Stats: 23.9 ppg, 5.0 spg

-Sounds too good to be true. Or is he another Ricky Davis?

    <font color="Navy">Sebastian Telfair: Lincoln HS</font>
    Position: PG
    Height: 5-11
    Weight: 168 lbs
    Born: 6/09/85
    Hometown: Brooklyn, New York

    Strengths:
Extremely talented... Outstanding ballhandling skills... Very flashy... Good scorer... Looks great driving to the basket.
Weaknesses: Must get a lot stronger... Shaky jumper... Has a lot to learn yet.
    Comparison: Kevin Johnson
    Stats: 31.0 ppg, 8.0 apg, 3.0 spg

-Hmmm...flashy? Hmmm, good scorer?... a point guard? But he is another highschooler. I believe this kid will be great down the line being mentored by Jeff McInnis. The future would look bright with a Telfair/James back court.

    Thoughts anyone?

6-6? He doesn't look that tall but anyways Devin Harris looks like a nice back up for McInnis. I don't see Jameer being drafted that low.

Jameer is actually projected at 15 at the moment. But who knows, anything could happen within a month.

    Cavs want Sebastian Telfair

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"A few sources tell InsideHoops.com editor Jeff Lenchiner that the Cleveland Cavaliers, partially inspired by the wishes of LeBron James, are probably drafting Sebastian Telfair with their lottery pick in the 2004 NBA Draft. Other players are being considered, like Devin Harris and Ben Gordon, but the friendship between Telfair and James, as well as Telfair's actual basketball ability and marketing power, may very well result in the high school kid from Coney Island being taken by Cleveland." </div>

    -InsideHoops.com

This is very interesting. Drafting a player partially on his relationship with one of there current players. It could definately work out with LeBron James as the 2 guard, and the undersized Telfair at the point.

Wow,I wonder if they would be the first team to draft hs players in the first round twice? That does look good on paper, but would they put Mcginnis on the bench? Also I read that Telfair couldnt guard Jammer Nelson, so if he started he would have to go against top point guards every night, would he be able to do that?I dont think he is capable of starting yet,he seems like he would be a good player off the bench for his rookie season.

Bassy n Bron. That would be interesting, it would do a lot of good for Bassy. Bron could guide him. I like that combo

The thing about not being able to guard Jameer Nelson was a rumor. No one knows if it is true.

I know Minnesota did it, Kevin Garnett, and Ndudi Ebi.

Telfair looks like a good pick to me. He obviously wouldn't start over McInnis but they would definatly share the same amount of minutes. McInnis can show him the ropes of being a great point guard and would be a nice mentor as well. Looks like Paxon is thinking about the future instead of immediate contribution. If this pick does go down expect Ollie and Wagner to vanish from our roster.

Yea, I think he would be a sixth man for the year. Or atleast most of it. I think he will still put up good numbers though.

id rather have shaun livingston if he is still on the board. gotta love that size (6-7) with true pg skills. however, i could live with having sebastian, he is a talent no doubt.

chad ford has us taking shaun livingston, the pg from peoria, illinois. when i first looked at this draft he was my number 1 best fit in cleveland. Here's why:
    1. his great size combined with pg skills allows us to not give up on wags just yet, allowing wags to play his natural position.
    2. he is "too unselfish with the ball", with lebron, wags, booz, and for the time being z, we dont need anyone else taking shots@!!

this guy is my pick without question, i know he is young but so is our team, and its not like j-mac cant hold down the fort for a couple yrs while livingston gets ready to be big time. josh childress is my choice #1a. he would also be great.

They would also like to have Livingston, but with the 10th pick, they would settle with Telfair.

I don't think they need Telfair, another PG who loves to shoot but doesn't have a decent shot, and one that is turnover-prone. Devin Harris, Ben Gordon and Jameer Nelson sound like better bets.

Harris and Gordon may not even be around.

    Nelson probably will.

Between point guards our choices will be Telfair, Harris and Nelson. Cavs can go with an offensive point guard with Harris, but they are more leaning towards someone who can push the ball.

15! Wow, I thought who would've been in the top 7 at least. I think he will be a solid point guard, but I don't know about all-star caliber.

    I'd get Jameer Nelson.
