Will we get more years of the fucking Conductor after an extension or option

or will we be rid of Chauncey in a week

What are we all thinking WILL happen

I think he’s back next year

I am surprised no one that i saw but maybe they did and I missed it but B-Edge ( granted they suck ) but via Athletic by Amick and Tony Jones mention ...

The Blazers might be interested in David Adelman

This makes sense ... for saving money cause i bet they would not have to pay him as much as Billups would command. I do not know enough about DA other then his dad was an all time great coach for the Blazers in terms of his coaching style etc

IMO...

Chauncey does not want to be back and the Blazers don't want him back.

Billups was hired to give a playoff team some defensive punch. That was the knock on Stotts, great offense, no defense. That's what Billups was sold, not a multiseason rebuild and tanking. You think Dame was upset when the Blazers drafted Scoot, so was Billups. The Blazers could have traded the pick and brought in some veteran talent. Instead, Billups is stuck in rebuild tanking hell. (At least that's how he views it.)

Now the Blazers don't want Billups back either, not because he's done a bad job. He hasn't. Our young players are developing. Nicely. So much so that the Blazers actually had to work NOT to make the playoffs this year. But that creates its own set of problems. The expectation is playoffs next year. We could trade Grant, Ant, and Ayton, and the fans are still going to expect the Blazers to make the playoffs next year. That's a huge step to take, regardless of how close we came this year. If we keep Billups and don't make the playoffs, Cronin's and Billups' jobs are in jeopardy. Heads.Will.Roll. What the Blazers need and want is a young coach, someone to develop and fight together with a young team. The fans will forgive if hometown son of a Blazer legend David Adelman doesn't get this team into the playoffs his first year as the HC. Adelman gets Cronin 3 more years of job security. 3 more years of rebuilding/retooling/rewhateveryouwanttocallit.

Again, just my opinion.

I think he’s gone. He was the tank commander but now we need to start making the playoffs. Seems there will be a few better options available, hopefully there’s a crowbar laying around to open Jody’s wallet.

This is probably a better opinion than mine.

A cogent and insightful read on the situation.

Thought provoking, very insightful take. Chauncey never got the chance to coach a winning roster.

Richman on the Locked On podcast hinted more than once that Billups’ may not come back. Ans labeled it as an educated guess. He is not looking for scoops or whatever. I think he may have heard something

I actually think he wants to stay and most likely will stay.
I am basing this on the fact Billups said numerous times during this season that he was experiencing things for the first time as HC. I don't think he sees himself as a contender worthy HC.. I believe he enjoys being part of an environment the allows mistakes, alongside growth.
During this season he gained experience in Macro HC aspects (benching Deni and Sharpe, handling Vet minutes and FO demands, instilling defensive schemes and improving on some X O plays while actually going through some competetive games).
He has a lot more he needs to gain before he sees himslef as top tier worthy coach - he needs to improve his in-game decision making, offensive schemes and system, and Vets accountability issues..
All in all I see him liking where he is at and appreciating the chance he gets to develop as coach alongside some young developing talents..

I heard that Denver loves Adelman and is likely one reason why they let Malone go. Not sure they’re moving off of him.

That's a tough deal for the Nuggets. With Jokic, they are always in a championship window. Do you go with a rookie head coach or an experienced HC?

I'd like to see a change of HC....which just about guarantees it won't happen

by the way, Billups and Simons are the only two left from the Olshey era. It's well past time to make a clean break

We've had wink-and-nod "coach trades" before haven't we? I feel like that happened once back in the mid 00's. I could see both teams letting the other's target go for each other's sake.

Does not sound like a guy that wants out...

I suspect he is extended soon

Sure why not? Give him three more years as a reward for getting the kids motivated. We're not going anywhere in the playoffs for a couple more years yet , so we have time to find someone more competent for a big run. Hell, Chauncey might be learning how to coach, and may be a good coach by the time his players are good enough for it to matter. Get him a kindle and some How To Coach e-books.

He's packing his bags as we speak

Giving this clown an extension is asinine. Should fire him immediately after the Laker game, if not sooner. Portland’s roster is ready to take a step forward, but they need a coach to guide them, not grow with them. Established or an assistant, I don’t care. I just want someone whose spent more than one season learning

I'm sure Chauncey went from...
wanting to coach Lillard
to just happy to have a job
to this shit isn't what I signed up for
to being attached to these young players. As a (now retired, yeah!) college professor, I can tell you that it's very gratifying to see young 18 year old boys and girls turn into men (and women).

So, I think he wants to stay.

He's on a very cheap contract and our GM just got extended, so I think management wants him to stay too.

I don't think Chauncey wants to come back. That's maybe why his contract wasn't extended when Joe's was. But who knows. I won't be shocked either way.
I've heard that he would like to move into a GM role sooner rather than later. Maybe Denver hires him as their GM?

I agree and think he deserves one more year with a healthy roster not trying to tank.

Blazer brass didn't know how to surround Dame with proper pieces.
Blazer brass didn't know how to replace Neil Olshey.
Blazer brass didn't know how to replace Stotts.
Blazer brass didn't know not to put quitters on the team and re-sign others to MASSIVE overpayments.
Blazer brass doubles down on their mistake replacing NO.

Does this give ANYONE confidence that they'll know how to replace Chauncey? Yeah.. No...

Sell the team to somebody who cares Jody!!

Message to Jody -- SELL the team ASAP

If you have any respect for your brother and how he loved this team do what is needed -- start the process of looking for a new owner
