Great article. Jeter's "Players' Tribune" has not failed to disappoint; while providing an insight from the Player's eyes, mouth, experiences; in lieu of Media assumptions, guesses, mis-quotes, et al... Almost 20 years after they won their first World Series together, the Yankees’ “Core Four” players remain very close. Following a ceremony at Yankee Stadium honoring the team, The Players’ Tribune sat down with Derek Jeter, Andy Pettitte, Jorge Posada and Mariano Rivera to discuss the season that sparked a dynasty. http://www.theplayerstribune.com/yankees-core-four-1996-world-series/ with a back-up article on the Core 4's fear of The Boss... this one's a pretty good story/read, as well.... http://bronxpinstripes.com/news-rum...e-all-scared-to-death-of-george-steinbrenner/
interesting stat on youth movements with teams. Take Cubs Anthony Rizzo, 27 yrs old. His first invite to Spring Training was in 2011. Of those 52 ST Invitees on the 2011-Cubs Roster, not one player on that 2011 ST Roster except for Rizzo, is on the current roster for 2016 Take Betances, or Romine (28 yrs old), since both were 25 yrs old, and the youngest Yanx on the 2011 ST roster as players, who are both, are still on the parent Team. 5 yrs later, the 2016 present roster.... Yanks 2011 ST Roster Invitees, and- who were on the Yanx 2016 ST & or- OD rosters: Betances Nova Sabathia Teixeira A-Hole A. Romine Brett-fkng-Gardner We all know Betances is a keeper, Romine too. Nova, Tex, A-Hole are taken care of. Yet, that leaves only 2, who shouldn't be on this team going forward, IMO.... 1)- Sabathia, I'd take a bath by eating C.C.'s contract, flat out, here's your $$$ now get the fk out, before you tarnish Yankee lore permanently. 2)- If your going to keep CC on the Roster for next year, how about placing him in a Reliever's "major blow out clean up spot". Let him pitch, when its obvious the Yanx aren't in the game, nor will be... If this team could be fully ready for post season next year. Creating a team from Prospects, with a Free Agent here and there, should take years to develop. Any hasty attempt could be suicide. Either eat C.C.s money, tell him to go home, or at the least DFA to SWB, on 2nd thought no, don't want to fk SWB's, chemistry up, so get CC clear out of the way back to Tampa... As for Gardner, I never understood why the Yanx ever gave him a 2nd thought, let alone a raise in 014, now that's Trashman pathetic...
Might be one of those Steinbrenner "legends" but allegedly Lou Pinella and Steinbrenner had a discussion about long hair. Steinbrenner took Lou to a point in Yankee Stadium with the Harlem River in view then told him if he could walk on that water he could have long hair. Three memories of that '09 World Series stick out in my mind, the team dedicated it to Steinbrenner, Hideki Matsui tearing the cover off of the ball, and how pissed I got at Cashman because Matsui was not given an extension. The core 4 fear factor of Steinbrenner was no doubt in conjunction with respect. Those guys also had the franchise attitude that was established back in the Twenties started by the Babe and Lou Gherig.
are you sure about that? Ya' know in the blink of a slanted eye, they're being developed as we sleep, I mean speak. I hear in Tokyo, every child will be born with Pokemon/Go in hand....!
