We have been having this debate in my law class, What do you think is the harsher penalty, Death or life in prision without parole.I mean with death you don't really have to suffer, with life in prision you have to suffer and stuff.

Living forever in a hellhole...I like life in prison...saves taxpayers money and they have to rot there forever.

Life in prison. Why? Death is the easy way out, in my opinion, because the person really doesn't "suffer." OK, he dies, but so what? He's going to die eventually, right? So, why not throw him in prison for the rest of his life, let him rot their, and he will eventually die... both "penalties" in one right there. Also, as BCB mentioned, it is also cheaper to put a person in prison for life than it is to give them the death penalty.

It costs taxpayers millions of dollars...and for what? To kill a guy that would sit in a cell and never get released anyway? Waste of money.

personally I think being in prison for life would be worse than dying. the death penatly is only expensive because of the number of appeals and legal BS that goes on before a convict gets death. I believe it should be one appeal and if you lose that than you die. also it shouldn't be this lethal injection sh*t, thats another thing that cost a lot of money. it should be a bullet, its quick painless, effective and cheap.

I agree with everybody else, Living in prison is much worse than being put to death. Dying is easy, Suffering every day in prison lasts your entire life.

If prison is better why do most defendants fight so hard to stay alive in jail?

Life in jail without parole. That would be emotionally tough thinking about the rest of your life...in jail

And some of the homeless probably do stuff to get in jail just because it's a better life for them. It does cost a lot of money to keep people n jail for a long time.

Putting someone in prison for life is just more efficient in general, thats why most states don't bother with executions. They tie up the courts and are an appeals mess. The system doesn't work so most people who get the death penalty end up sitting in prison for a long time anyway. My opinion is, I don't think the government or the court system should be allowed to kill people.

I've heard arguments both for and against it. There are catches for both too. Death Penalty is cruel and unusual? So is locking someone in a cell for the rest of their life and blocking them out of society. Harsh and yes cruel, but I think sitting in a cell for life is more harsh and better punishment than killing someone. Plus if you have any morals, killing someone for some crime they committed is just stooping to the criminals level.

How f*cking harsh is it, when they've got meals each day, their laundry done, a warm place to sleep (not out on the street), they're working and earning money (it's like 15 cents/hour, but still!), they get to work out/play b-ball in the yard, even free satellite f*cking TV for christ's sake! f*cking kill 'em, get it done and over with and move onto the next one.

Believe me Death is much harsher. Even if they are in a room for the rest of there life...why do you think they fight SO hard to stay alive in prison. However I DO NOT think that execution is ethical (only in extreme cases like mass murder (50+ish).
