The "Im Sorry Kobe" Thread after 81 points! 81 points. Eighty One for those who think i cant type. Yes all you Kobe haters, even im one of them, he is the real deal. Id like to apologise to all the Lakers fans who have taken **** from all the JBB forums about Kobe, but this is the reason why Jerry West kept him over Shaq. All those Lakers fans who have been bagged over loving Kobe, all the pain seeps its rewards. Heres the reward. Im sorry for not respecting Kobe. He is the man of the hour! Im sorry to all those Lakers fans, such as Run Wit It who i bagged for saying Kobe is better then Jordan. But at this moment, im doubting it. This performance is sure to bring out the TRUE Kobe haters saying he is a hog, but you cant doubt his skills. I cant believe it. im sorry im lost for words. all i can say is. KOBE KOBE KOBE KOBE
I have never hated Kobe. But he is not being my favourite or smth. But I'm saying It til the game, when he scored 62. He's the best. And he's got style too, imo. So respect Kobe and STFU. Nothing more to say, what can you say after a perfomance like this, amazing, incredible.
to all kobe haters... it's ayt not to like kobe just don't hate him too much that you'd hate him even more even if he scores 81 pts. you hafta cut the guy some slack for achieving an impossible feat..
I don't really understand this. People who criticize Kobe never faulted his scoring ability. Rather, they usually criticize his personality and seflishness on the court. Are you sorry because you actually didn't think Kobe was a great scorer before, or are you sorry because that other stuff doesn't matter any more?

I was going to mention the same exact thing. This is the 2nd thread.
He still only got 2 assists and that is exactly what people are bagging him for. He scored 81 points and, don't get me wrong, that was a fantastic individual performance, but it typified the way in which Kobe Bryant plays - keeping the ball to himself and shooting virtually every time he touched the ball. He did not pass it around much and, although it worked this time, it does not always lead to a Lakers win.
but, in this case, he wasn't playing selfishly. 55 points of his 81 were in the second half. he was frustrated by his team's play and, like a true leader, stepped up, put them on his back and got the job done. this was an incredible performance and he deserves to be acknowledged for it. i was reading this LA Times article about the game and it made me think that this may be the beginning of a new era for kobe: he seems to be winning back the support of his teammates, the staff, the fans... and he even seemed somewhat humbled by comparisons to chamberlain. http://www.latimes.com/sports/printedition...lines-pe-sports i don't think criticisms of his character have any place in discussions about his talent. it always seems to come back to that and its unfortunate, because he's a huge force in the league...

I don't think so.

KOBE KOBE KOBE KOBE</div> You mean Jerry Buss, Jerry West is with the Memphis Grizzlies now. chingy0007 normally I would agree with you, basketball is a team sport and no one should have to score 81 points to win a ball game. However, when the Lakers were trying to play team ball, the team fell behind by 18 points to the Toronto Raptors. The only player who showed up for the Lakers was Kobe Bryant and the rest of the team was flat. The Raptors took an 18 point lead because of terrible Laker defense, and even worse offense. Kobe Bryant got into the zone in the second half and scored 55 points, while playing great defense, because he refused to lose this game. I think this game highlights how inconsistent and weak the talent on the Laker team really is more than anything else.
wat a ball hog lmao congrats kobe scoring 81 points is extremely impressive hell scoring 40 points is impressive and he double that. but thats not the point the point is he did wat he had to do for his team to win and thats all that matters
Yeah but he took 46 shots more than all of his other "teammates" combined. He missed quite a few of these but got to the line for about 15 points. Gee, don't you wish if you were an NBA player that you could be playing with the great Kobe right now. What an egomaniacal narcissist. The Lakers will not make the playoffs.

This topic is pointless, no one with any basketball knowledge ever said Kobe wasn't a great scorer. The only way you can make this thread Is If he does something no one expects which would be to take this poor Laker talented team deep into the playoffs.

They are 0-8 when Lamar takes more than 15 shots I think. Not sure of those stats... but its close to something like that. So clearly Kobe's "ballhogging" does lead to Laker wins more often than it does not.

The rest of the team shot 14-42 (33.3%), and wasn't playing any defense until Kobe Bryant took the game over. Toward the end of the game they were forcing everything to Kobe so he could have a historic night. Everyone on the team was supporting him and just admiring him make history. If you watched the game you would have seen how excited his teammates and coaches were for him. Even some Raptor players gave him hugs at the end of the game for his effort on the court. I think Marc Stein said it best last night. Just enjoy these performances, because players like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, don't come along very often.

To those who objected to my reaction to the Lakers' one-man shootathon, I should not have referred to Mr. Bryant as a narcissist or egomaniac which others much more familiar with the gentleman than I have called him. I stand by my prior posts that he is the greatest shooter in the NBA and one of the greatest clutch shooters in the history of the NBA. But I have a hard time believing the opponents on the other team were glad that he lit them up for 81 pp. Chrish Bosh and his team need some serious defensive coaching. Nor do I believe Mr. Bryant's teammates would not have liked to see the ball zipped their way when the latter was being doubled and tripled. I still don't think the Lakers will make the playoffs ahead of the Hornets.
