Check out the bottom part of my sig for updates on how Chris Wilcox has been doing since coming up from the Clippers. The stats I used were total games, minutes per game, field goal percentage, rebounds per game (and rebounds per 48 minutes), and points per game (and points per 48 minutes). The best categories to look under in Wilcox's case, in my opinion, would be the RP48 and PP48; that way, you get to see how his statline would look if he were to play all 48 minutes of every game (assuming that stamina isn't a factor). As you can see, after six games with Seattle, Wilcox's scoring has bumped up roughly four points, while his rebounding's gone down a point. Keep in mind that his career with Los Angeles went for four years, and spanned across a total of 213 games; 46 of which he started. Some might view this as meaningless, since not all of basketball is statistical. I dispute, however--these numbers keep intangibles away and measure the direct productivity of a player on the court. Make of it what you will. As long as I'm interested in showing off Chris Wilcox's stats since gearing up for the Sonics, it'll be available for your viewing pleasure in my sig. Enjoy.
Well I think the 10 more MPG might have something to do with his improvement, like you posted, the PER minute numbers don't change so much. If you look at more recent years with LAC: <font color=""Navy"">04-05 PER 48: </font> 20.4 PPG | 10.8 RPG He's not really improved, he's just getting more oppurtunity, and his scoring numbers will balance out as he's not going to shoot 67.3% FG for the season.
Nice point. Don't be surprised if I take this down when his shooting percentage regulates, because, well, let's face it: no real change will be noticeable. So until Johan Petro or Mike Wilks get enough time to where either one can take up space in my sig (like a regular old Johan Petro/Mike Wilks Update!), Wilcox is staying.
This isn't about Wilcox's development, like og15 said, it is more about him getting an honest opportunity. The kid obviously has talent and I am hopeful that we will ante up and give him a fair contract so that he can continue to develop in a Sonics uniform. He is a restricted free agent and hopefully Rick Sund realizes that the qualifying offer situation isn't the best route to travel when negotiating with a free agent. Not that the QO is totally out of the question. If Wilcox and his agent asking price is too high it is better to keep him at QO price and maybe look to trade him during the season than to not offer him a QO and let him walk for nothing. I just hope that their original offer is in the 3 year 13.5 million dollar range and that he doesn't feel disrespected with that offer.
I would love to see him with the Sonics for atleast the next 3 years. He's only 23 years old...and like Shiek and everyone has pointed out, the guy has some skills. With a Point like Luke and our up-tempo offense...he fits like a glove...
Well we all know he's a great athlete at 6-10, so just off slam dunk putbacks, alley oops and rollilng off of picks he should averaging 12 and 8 easily (unless you're Stro Swift). That being said, I'd like to see him in the post and see if he has any game, like a the baby hook he showed in college or a drop step towards the baseline. If he shows that he's more than just a runner and a jumper he'd be well worth the 3/13.5.
He gives us genuine frontcourt depth. Right now we have a solid four man rotation at the 5 and the 4 (and that doesn't include Mikki and Danny), all four have shown they can produce at this level and the oldest guy is 25. This has been a nightmare season, but that's a great sign for the next few seasons.
