Wow. He's got a few good years left. They could actually resemble a playoff team again.

Boyle is a free agent. Lets see if he spends his last few years with the isles. Guessing the isles will have to offer him callahan money (LOL) to sign there.

They have loads of cap space so if Wang gives the go ahead I bet they sign him for 2-3 years. Solid move for them. Getting Halak was an upgrade.

its for the rights to sign him first, and after couple reports it seems Dan Boyle WILL NOT SIGN WITH ISLANDERS unless its top $. If they sign him the pick becomes a 4th, if not they just wasted a 5th for no reason. He said he likes cali and wants to compete for a cup. Islanders are rebuilding

that organization continues to make decisions that make you scratch your head. Boyle is a good defense man at the end of his career much like Visnovsky, so why have to aging dman on your team? Also why give up another draft pick when hes a free agent? He's going to test the market and most likely go somewhere that isnt Long Island.

The move makes zero sense to me but we haven't seen what else they have on tap this summer.

For a 5th rounder it seems worth it to have a few weeks to try and convince him to sign. He's got a few years left of good hockey so it's not a bad move imo. They gave away their 1st next year so they must be looking to spend more $$ this summer.
