    Jameer Nelson

This young fellow is going to be huge i think, what a great pick-up by the Magic. Along with Howard they are both showing great promise and Nelson has incredible skills which i think will take him to the top in the next few of his NBA career, i just hope we dont waste him, like we have done with Gooden.

Wouldnt it be nice a battle for ROTY award Jameer Nelson and Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic!!!!

Jameer Nelson...i see him starting for Orlando if he works hard enough...Francis should play the two cuz he's too selfish at the one

The Magic never really wasted Drew Gooden as you say they did. The problem with Drew was that he was, and still is, extremely inconsistent. If he were more consistent, the Magic would have never benched him in favor of Juwan Howard. Not only that, Gooden kept insisting throughout the season that he could play the 3 spot. That was a foolish move and we saw that when they gave him a chance at that position and he failed horribly on the defensive side of the ball. I don't want to turn this into a Drew Gooden debate, but I'm just saying that he had a really inconsistent sophomore season and it hurt him. He'll probably turn things around though, and I hope he does.

As for Jameer, with the Magic planning on running the court so much, it isn't unrealistic to expect Francis to move to the 2 spot and have Jameer bringing the ball up at point since it would certainly give the Magic a little more speed in the backcourt and would allow Franchise to be less restricted on offense. However, that brings up the question as to what you would do with Mobley then, he'd probably have to come off the bench. The way I look at it though is that Jameer is going to have to prove himself early in the season for the Magic to try out something so drastic, but I could be wrong. But yeah, if the Magic are so hellbent on running the court more and having an uptempo offense, having Jameer at point and Francis at 2 guard would not hurt.

i think the magic would be better if they still had mike miller, he gave you a little of everything each night, and could also be a complimentary scorer. francis wont really play the 2, he was offered to play to 2 in Vancouver along with bibby at the point, but didnt want to. every now and then will be fine though.

Miller was a good player and I still think that it was a bonehead move to trade that guy. He gave the team a good all-around player who could shoot from the outside.

I don't know about that. I really like Lue. I hope he does well in Houston and I wouldn't be surprised if he did better out there. He's got a lot of potential and we saw that toward the end of last season where he was scoring a lot in T-Mac's absence. Could just be me though.

I miss him already. He was a good roleplayer for the Magic if you ask me. But they couldn't have kept him with Jameer and Franchise on the same team, both guys are clearly better point guards IMO. I've been meaning to update that part of my profile, but I can't really pick a new favorite player since most of the Magic roster is nothing but new players. I can say that I'm really pulling for Dwight Howard, though.

Jameer is a very talented an experienced player. He has led a team before and can step in anytime and take over that leadership role anytime he's needed. Dwight is a monser on defense and when his offensive play gets consistant he's going to be excellent player all around. I don't see these two battling out for Rookie Of The Year at the end of the season though. Maybe Dwight could be a close runner in the race for ROY but not both of them.

I doubt that Jameer will be in the running considering he won't get too much PT, barring a franchise injury. In order to be in contention you would probably need 25-30 mins minimum and I see Jameer getting maybe 15-20 mins maximum.

He is my was favorite player in this years draft . I really liked him with st. joes hopefully he can bring that same winning attitude to orlando. I hope he does well he is a really great person and has a hell of a work ethic. I dont want to see francis moved to the 2 though IDK about that how it would work. I would like to see jameer give us a spark off the bench.

Sportsrock made a great point. The minutes Jameer will be getting probably won't be enough where he can put up ROY numbers, pus the fact he had an injury during the summer league. The injury isn't that much of a deal seeing as how he bounced back from it, so I don't see that as a factor.

    Thanks...Dad. [IMG]

Jameer isn't going to contend for ROY...he won't get the minutes of course. But who knows? He might end up getting more minutes than you think if they move Franchise to the 2 guard a little more than expected.

Jameer Nelson's contribution to the team next year?

I really like jameer since his first year at st. joes I think he will bring a real work ethic and winning attitude to the magic. My question to you is were do you think he will contribute to the team from or how. I say he will be our sixth man providing us with a great spark and energy his first season average roughly 11 points 4 assists 3 rebounds.

Then in his second season move him to the starting point francis to the 2 and mobely to the three if we dont resign hill (hope not). Then we will have a true point guard on the team and the franchise can do what he does best which is score for the team.

It would also give us a good swing man who can hit the spot up three in mobely. Then openning up our fast break to prvide us with more offensive options. Not to mentioning openning up our inside game. He will not be effected by his size I believe he will be a sort of AI type player only with a better shooting percentage and less of a how can I put it ball dont wana say hog, but he wont shoot as much as AI. How you think he will contribute?

Jameer Nelson will fit right in with the fast tempo of the team and will have one of the best to learn from(Francis). If all goes well,(and if Okafor struggles), Jameer could be a conterder for ROY.

    My Stat Predictions for Jameer:

10 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, per game.

He and Steve can switch/rotate at the point to keep the opponent's 1 working.
But it will probably be somewhat hard to keep Nelson, Francis, Mobley toghether in the backourt court because of their lack of size...

I still can't belive we've came from not having a decent backup starting at one, to an all-star point guard and a potential starter coming of the bench.
All we have to get now is another solid center and we can be very strong contenders in the league...

I to like Jameer Nelson too. He's a great player and was great for St. Joe's. I think he will contribute a lot to the Magic this upcoming season if they will have any success. And that I am very sure of. Think about it, Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, and even 2 great rookies, Dwight Howard and none other than Jameer Nelson. Nelson will do a great job in backing up Stevie Franchise, and will later show that he is great, and will show that he could start, or either be a very good backup guard.

Okay, now that's my opinion.. but I just wanted to know, and this help crap here isnt helping me much.. i'm new, and this will sound stupid, but how do you start a topic/thread??
