As some of you may have read, in my blog I mentioned that Scalabrine may be one of two players that's going to getresurrected.Which brings me to the second person I think will have a huge impact on the Celtics:KendrickPerkins. In fact, I believe that the way the season pans out, will rest mostly onKendricks'wideshoulders.Perk'srolewillnowbereducedtowhathedoesbest;stayinginsidethepaint.Onoffenseallhe'llneedtodoisclearspace,grabafewreboundsandscoreafeweasy buckets. On defense he should blossom, as now he won't have the dreaded duty of chasing the oppositions point guard at the three point line. Just having that off his chest means he can potentially have one or two less fouls per game. This task should be left for Kevin Garnett, a much quicker player who has the veteran badge around his chest. One other thing that will seperate Perkins of 07/08 from the past is that he will also not have to make up for Al's mistakes on defense, thus picking up extra fouls. We truely don't need Perkins to score anymore, but doing the other small things is what will make him invaluable to this roster. He'll also benefit from playing with the likes of Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, two solid veterans(addedtoPierce) who been through a lot.PerkinswillbethekeytotheCelticssuccessinthenextfewyears.

Great points #5. Hopefully we'll pick up a vet center and won't have to rely on Perks as much.

Why did he have such a drop off from 05-06 to 06-07?

I really like Perkins and more people will do after getting to watch him, due to the C's getting more attention.

The key for the Celtics next year is for everyone 4-12 on the roster to step up their game, not just Perkins, but Rondo, Scalabrinie, House, andanyone elsethat endsup on the rosterby opening day, but Kendrick Perkins isobviously very importnt because he's going to be starting at center.

The key thing to not here is that he's still only 22 years old andI'd say if he stays healthy he could still improve and have a very solid year.

Like others said, he had plantar fasciitis and played through it, but at the end of the year, he played extremely well. The last month and a half or so, Perk did an excellent job. If he can go into this season where he left off last season, that would be a huge plus for this team. The presence of KG should benefit him as well, I think Perk is gonna have a good year. It's all about staying healthy for a full season.

That would be a perfect role for him. Just there to play defence, grab some boards, block some shots, and get some easy baskets. It suits him perfectly.

I agree. He did play much better once he recovered.

With the pressure off to defend OPM (other people's men), he has a much better chance of creating defensive stops consistently. Also fast breaks via good rebounds.

I bet he gets way more "garbage" and put backs than last year.

And as some have pointed out, Garnett as a mentor is an opportunity of a lifetime.

i read an article (too lazy to find the link) and perkins actually said himself the season rests on his shoulders. it's good to see he knows he needs to step up, but can he handle the pressure?

Perkins could not be in a better position. He has a few years under his belt, so he knows what to expect from a full NBA season - yet he's still only 22. He's been on teams that did not win many games, and teams that needed more from him than should of been expected. He had a painful injury that appears healed at the perfect time...the Celtics now have 3 allstars. Perkins role will be greatly simplified - grab boards, get some garbage points. D-up on the center, stay on the floor. He clearly appreciates his situation and seems to want to waotk hard and make the most of it.

Can't wait for this season to start.
