Working the next four days down here in Corvallis for the Pac12 Network. Our producer is a close friend of mine who has been the Lakers TV Broadcast Producer for the past 10 years. When I showed up this morning, we talked Blazers/NBA for at least an hour. I asked him what this past season was like with the whole Kobe circus thing going on around him. He then mentioned how on multiple occasions he overheard players and coaches talking about our very own Blazers and how much they respected them. Loved the direction our franchise has taken and how our backcourt was a blast to watch play. Who knows, maybe this is the first step in patching up relations with our rivals to the south.
KNOWLEDGEABLE fans of teams are worth listening to and being friends with. it's the idiots, bandwagon fans who make fan bases look bad. We have our own fair share of them. I remember going to a Blazers/Lakers game (in the RG) years ago, when the fan next to me as an old time Laker fan. Probably was a fan since Jerry Wests days. He actually knew what it felt like to lose NBA finals after finals. Granted, they won many since that point, but he said something poignant (that means important, HCP). Most of the long time Laker fans, who knew what it meant to finally beat Boston in the finals, hate the front running "hey look at me!" fans as much as we do.
