Comments? Miller + Humphrey + 03 1st rounder + 04 2nd rounder for Giricek + Gooden + Cash... what you all think>
I was just about to post it. I like what Orlando got there. Losing Miller hurts some, but I really like Gooden and Giricek's game. The draft picks they sent away will both be pretty low. The 2003 1st rounder is via Sacramento, so it will be high 20s. This could help Orlando make the playoffs yet this year.
I like this trade from a magic perspective. Drew Gooden is a hell of a player and Giricek can offer alot to the magic. Although they are losing mike, he was one of the only trading tools the magic had. Can't wait to see drew gooden in a magic vest!!
Trade is unbelievably even and fair. Orlando gets a young natural PF with loads of potential to help them with their lack of big men, and a great bench player in Gricek. Also, the Grizzs get a true SF and open up space for their big men, Pau and Swift to play their natural positions. Now, no more worrying about which position Pau would have to play.
yup i agree with your responses... those draft picks are virtually worthless imo...i'd rather have the cash =P the Magic have a lost post presence...Gooden can post up and he's got really versatile offensive game...Giricek is a great shooter that T-Mac can dish to...i really like the Magic's outlook for this season and plenty to come with this young core of players...Giricek and Gooden are both impact rookies.. Miller has nice game but i think he can help the grizz more then he could ever help the Magic...I think Humphrey is a real nice young player...powerful and athletic...sad to see him go from the Magic but the trade works well for both teams...very balanced...nice to see trades that might actually help both teams.. I heard that Houston declined a trade offer from Atlanta that woulda sent Shareef to the rockets in exchange for Griffin and Cato...i think this was a smart move by Houston...Griffin is a good young player and Cato is a very solid center that can back up Yao while he's learning the ropes...any thoughts on that or the decline of a GP for kurt thomas / charlie ward ?
Yes a trade happened. I am glad at least one happened. The grizz got rid of 2 ball hogs so they might actually start winning more games. Humphrey will get less minutes in Memphis. But will Giricek and Gooden learn to pass the ball to there new teammate T-Mac or just stay selfish? But finally the Magic have a inside presence. Goodens stats will rise and orlando is a better place for him than memphis.
Good move by both teams. I think the Grizz will load up on picks and try and trade up in the draft. Gooden gives the Magic much needed rebounding and a low post presence. But I think the Magic should have went for Swift instead. He could play center in the East and provide them with shotblocking. Also, can the Magic replace Miller's scoring? I think Darrell Armstrong needs to really step it up now. Mike Miller is going to light it up in Memphis. Glad to see a trade finally happen.
I think it is good for both teams..but in the long run the magic get the best deal out of it.If gooden proves to be that star magic GM thinks it would be a very good trade..magic so do get better here. They now at least have some frontcourt help with gooden added in.Giricek is getting 11 a game and gooden as a rookie 12 and 5 rebounds..so no one can really say magic don't have any help now..mcgrady just needs to get the best out of them.
I think magic got the better end. When are the grizz gonna stop looking into the future!? what are more draft picks going to do. Its basically 2 for 2 players and magic got the better 2
Giri is one of my favorite players and Magics are one of my least favorite teams,I don't like them. I am sure Drew will be even better in Orlando but Giri is in deep becuase he is playing with T Mac and he won't get enough minutes. Mike Miller is a gkood player with size and shoot and he will actually improve in Grizzlies because he won't play with T Mac anymore so he will be able to shoot more!! I think it's preety even trade!! P.S In one Croatian basketball magazine they asked Giri about Kobe and T Mac. He said that Kobe is better player mostly becuase ball is all the time in his hands and he is capable of doing anyting. He said it was very hard to guard A.I becuase he has mad handles, then they asked him about T Mac and he said......."weel McGrady is very good player but he is not good as Kobe and it's easier to guard him than Iverson. I hope that T Mac won't read that article
Gooden and Giricek will really help the Magic. They've got two big man now, Declerq and Gooden, and two great guards, Giricek and Mcgrady. Their lineup should look like this: PG- Armstrong SG- Mcgrady SF- Giricek PF- Gooden C- Declerq with that lineup they should be able to win more games. i dunno if i'm copyin anyone or quotin cuz i'm in a rush and didn't read the rest of the topics

Giricek will start they have to they have no choice..Mcgrady will have to play SF with Grant Hill out for the season. They have improved their starting 5 with this trade..which for them is important considering where they are in the standings.
The starting five should be Armstrong, Giricek, McGrady, Gooden and Declerq. Tho i guess Vaughn could start instead of Darrell but Armstrong is da man!!
the starting lineup for the magic is gonna be, with out question: jaque vaughn tracy mcgrady gordan giricek drew gooden shawn kemp at center, maybe in a couple games when he's back in the flow after his suspension

They need to get their talent on the court, not stuck nehind eachother, so a slide over by T-Mac allows Giricek to start. I think they have a chance at the playoffs, but it will be tough to be successful once they get there.
