I don't really hear much about Scottie Pippen because of Jordan but how good do you think Pippen could have been (in terms of numbers/wins) if he didn't play with Jordan? Or how good would Jordan have been without Pippen? I really don't think Pippen gets the praise he deserves or enough credit for what he did.
I couldn't agree more, this may sound fruity but I find them to be like Batman and Robin, they both need each other to succeed and vica-versa.
Jordan didnt start getting championships until Pippen started stepping up and becoming a great player.Pippen has proven he can have a good team without Jordan (BLazers)And Jordan, well he hasnt had much success without the presence of Pippen, but I dont think he had enough time to prove himself, and could totally succeed with any team. But their best success was when they were together (awwww...)This is a good idea for a thread
Pippen really does not receive the credit he truly deserves for what he brought to those Bulls' championship teams, and what he meant to Jordan's legacy as a player. Without Pippen, Jordan would have had a tough time winning one or two championships, let alone six. The same could be said for Pippen. They were blessed to be able to play with each other, and ultimately Pippen was just as important to those Bulls' teams as Jordan was... in his own way.
I agree with you guys to an extent. Jordan wouldnt of won half those championships withouth Pippen there, but i also cant see Pippen leading a team to a championship by himself either. He was a great player and HOF, but i just dont see him as being as dominant a player others are. What i'm sayin is i think if he was the only star player on his team for his whole career, he would be compared to Kevin Garnett. A great regular season player that couldnt get his team past the 1st round. Thats how i see it. A Pippen lead team would get you into the playoffs on a regular basis, but cant get you to the conference finals or the NBA Finals. Understand what i'm saying?
Pippen was the guy that helped defend the best players so jordan wouldnt have to. a perfect example of symbiosis. but i mostly admire him for his shutdown D
Pippen will be a hall of famer, no question. Jordan may not have won all those titles, but there would have had to be someone there at the small forward position that would have come in from free agency or something. It's not like there would be a huge hole. The Payroll isn't just going to sit there.
But Scottie Pippen was not replaceable, I can't think of another player that could have filled in and done what he did.
