According to ESPN Magazine, the Spurs are the most boring team in the NBA. This isn't the first time they have given our team this dubious title and others have also dubbed them with similar nicknames several times before(when's the last time anyone's heard ESPN come up with an original idea?), but what I'd like to know is what type of logic leads to the conclusion that the Spurs are boring? Is it the lack of soap opera melo-drama between key players that ended up ruining the lakers? Lack of flashiness? Lack of thugs? Any theories out there? I have a couple myself that I don't agree with but I'd like a few more opinions on this. Spurs fans and haters are all invited to post, but be prepared to defend yourselves haters, heh heh.
I don't think the Spurs are the most boring team in the NBA in my opinion. ESPN and many others may think that the Spurs are boring just because they keep things old school with Popovich. Just because other teams have great superstars that are in highlight reels everyday, people think that they are boring. It's the NBA. The NBA is entertainment. And entertainment makes money. The Spurs on the other hand, don't really care. They have one of the biggest fundamentals in sports, Tim Duncan, which is probably the most old school player in the NBA right now. They have arguably the best defender, Bruce Bowen, which makes other teams score less on him. So, no, the Spurs are not boring. Does a boring team ever win championships?
I don't think are the most boring. Duncan is exciting to watch even though he doesn't throw down crazy dunks or make crazy moves. I like watching the Spurs because I respect them. I also think that Manu Ginobili adds some excitment to San Antonio games because he makes some crazy layups. I also like watching Tony Parker play and watching Bruce Bowen's aggressive defense. The Spurs are different from other teams in the way they play but I wouldn't call them boring. If you wanna see boring go watch a Hornets game. It's like watching a bunch of random scrubs run around and then always get crushed in the end. That doesn't sound to exciting to me.
It's just because they aren't scandalous or have some a**hole primadonna running his mouth and acting like a thug from the ghetto. E.S.P.N. can sit on it and rotate!! JT
ESPN hates the west side. They dont even bother to translate the times of shows/games into west coast times. They just say "8 eastern" and if you've watched sports center during the Finals or Conference Finals you'll se a thousand stories on Shaq and Dwayne Wade or Alonzo's triumphant return or the Pistons defense. Theres no way you can call SA the most boring team when they have Manu and Parker, Duncan isn't very flashy but fun to watch as well. Pacers and Pistons are very boring IMO, SA is probably a distant third.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting JTex:</div><div class="quote_post">Took care of your Sonics, didn't they JT </div> Doesn't make them any less boring. Although, Ginobili's blatant flops were pretty dramatic and entertaining. As well as the referee's treatment of Tim Duncan...a real love story.
E.S.P.N. or whoever can call the Spurs what they want, but if it's also followed with "N.B.A. Champions" I wouldn't give a damn. Basketball fans like what they see because the Spurs get it done and take care of business with a style that is consistent and safe (if you know what I mean).
Maybe we all should be a little more boring! <div class="quote_poster">Quoting d00d:</div><div class="quote_post">Doesn't make them any less boring. Spurs are an excellent team in baiting another team to do pretty stupid things. Gino up against Big Ben Wallace is a pretty scary scenario. If he can play it right and not get seriously injured he could make a very hard foul against one of the Pistons big 3, look like a very bad flagrant foul and get them tossed, maybe for the series and we all know what Bowen can do to opponents. It will be interesting. I feel the Pistons are a marked team from the disaster of earlier this year, and the commisioner definitely has his eye one them and their fans. I don't like many of the things David Stern has done, he's not good for the NBA. In his eyes the Spurs are the Golden Boys of the NBA (and they are). They set positive examples for our youth by behaving like true professionals, they don't cry and whine or make excuses because they don't need to or have to, if they lose, there's always next year for the Spurs for about 5 more years. Whether you like the Spurs or not they have set the most postive example in the NBA (as a team) since the great MJ left the game. All NBA fans should appreciate them for accomplishing this feat. Our society has degraded to the point that they would rather see the fiasco between the Pistons-Pacers of earlier this year. That doesn't speak too well for our society as a whole and as a high school teacher, I see this disrespectful (thuggish) attitude, in many of my students male and female. Attitudes displayed by professional athlete's sets the example as a role models and as the acceptable norms to our young people. Maybe raising the age to enter the NBA to 20 would be a good idea. Look at the example David Robinson set for our young people. Maybe if we all were a little more boring we'd have a better society of people in the U.S.A. GO SPURS GO!! I'm out. Later! JT

they aren't the boringest team, i would rather watch the spurs than the hornets or the jazz. in my opinion, the jazz are the most boringest team in the league. they're basically all white, so they won't have much dunks.(not being rasicst, but besides chris anderson, what other white player can dunk well?)

Why don't you watch them because most of them are white?
I don't find the Spurs boring at all, there's a lot of life in their game. Honestly though, who watches a Hawks game nowadays? The Hornets? The most boring teams are the ones with the worst records, IMO. Of course if the Rockets were to sink down to that level, I'd still love them.
They are boring when they just give the ball to Duncan, but when they give it to Ginobli i'll watch them over the Dunk Contest.

They can be a fast pace team , and run with the Suns and play the slow pace with the Spurs, I think Kirilenko is the most enertaining player in the NBA with his blocks from nowhere and Sloan gets player that still have the love for the game, not these athletic freaks who just want money, it's all about the determination.
I wouldn't necessarily say that the Spurs are the most boring team in the NBA. I would say, however, that they are the most frustrating team. Manu flops like a girl and makes some of the most impossible shots (which is aggravating as an opponent) and tends to draw a lot of offensive fouls. Bruce Bowen is thug. He goes out there and hits, grabs, and flops on almost every play and gets away with it the majority of the time. On top of all this the Spurs' superstar is Tim Duncan. The man never shows emotion. When they won the Finals a couple years ago I just remember him saying **** like, "We just came out and played great basketball and it was good enough to get us the win." Come on, you won the fucking finals! Be happy! He also doesn't show emotion on the court. He never gets fired up and excites the fans or his teammates. You never see him screaming as he runs back down the court after a huge dunk. The man needs to get his lobotomy undone. And no, I'm not just bitter because you guys knocked my Sonics out of the playoffs. I've thought this ever since '03 when the Spurs won the Finals.
They sure were not boring today. They been lighting up the SUNS. No half sets. FULL RUN AND GUN SPURS! If they keep this up, they will kill in the finals.
