After Shaq and Kobe's 3 championship run, there was, as we all know, a conflict between Shaq and kobe. The result, Shaq leaves LA and goes to Miami. With that said, at the same time, T-mac (quite possibally the best/closest player compared to Kobe at the time) comes to Houston in the Steve Francis deal. Now teamed up with Yao Ming (the closest center to Shaq; not dominace wise, but skill wise) people say that "A New Dynasty" has begun. They thought it was going to be the best duo since Shaq and Kobe and the reign of a new era. With the Lakers broken up Houston was suppose to rise and many expectations rose; however, as of late nothing has come close of the Rockets even contending for the NBA Finals or the even the Conference Finals...

What do you guys think about the New Dynasty? Is there still hope?

IMO, I think it was just a tough break this season with all the injuries and such. I also think that it takes more than a duo to win a championship. MJ and Pippen didnt do it alone. Shaq and Kobe had great role 3pt shooters. In the case of ONLY Yao and T-Mac, i would have to say that I dont see them make a huge impact anytime soon (but I still believe). So far the 2 has not been able to prove that they can share the spot light (one main reason is taht they haven't played together that much this year). But if they were to be the new era duo, then i would have to expect at least 50-55 pts from these 2 alone if they are to carry the load. When that has been achieved, we will be Finals contenders.

Well having a "dynasty" is not an easy task....with that being said Tmac and Yao will never be Shaq and Kobe, because Yao can't touch Shaq in his prime....but I still think with the right pieces that we can be a title contender and eventually title winners.

tmac and yao being healthy is a big key to the "dynasty." also, in order to build a dynasty, you need not only "star players," but good role players as well. this season, not many guys really stepped up at all. it takes a team to win a championship. you look at the lakers dynasty, they had stars in kobe and shaq, but also great role players like horry, fox, fisher, shaw, green, harper, and glen rice

there is a difference with the Lakers in their dynasty than we have now.

Lakers have a better coach, Much better role players, consistent starters that were together for a long time in Derek Fisher, Devean George, and whoever their PF was. They also had shaq in his prime. True Yao is hitting his prime and Tmac can only get better from last seasons performance so hopes are high.

If we get the right pieces in this years draft and pick up at least 2 guys through FA taht give us depth, then we will be in the playoffs in no time.

The lakers dynasty was built around shquille, i'm still not sure who the rox are built around is it yao or t-mac? obviously it was yao for a while when t-mac was injured. When t-mac comes back is he going to be the focus again?

Well first thing, Van Gundy isn't Phil Jackson. Also, the Lakers team and even the Spurs had athletes. When you have a 40yr old David Wesley starting at shooting guard, you're pretty much kissing a ring goodbye. Credit that to Van Gundy, who can only effectivley coach old "has beens" who know how to take criticism because that's all he seems to give as a coach.

You need to win at least two championships to have a "dynasty".
