Just started a new job a few weeks ago, working the nigh shift on a compressed work week (3x12 one wee, 4x12 the next).

Anyone else working the night shift? Like it? Hate it?

Takes a special kind of person imo. Throws your body for a loop for a while. I did it but was so so on it. I work day shift now but swing was my favorite. Get off at 11 PM or so and could still hit the bar and then sleep in. I more of a night owl then early riser type.

I did it years ago and loved it! I also worked 2x16 and loved that. I could rack up some serious OT the others days. It was awesome! Also it was great for vacations because you take 3 vacation days and you're off for 2 weeks.

Yeah, I love that I have 14 hours of OT built into each paycheck, plus I get a 16% differential and a 5.9% bump for the compressed work week.

I figure if I am working 12 hours shifts, I won't have much of a personal life on work day whether I work day or nights. Might as well make some extra cash, plus no managers and regular shift people around to bug me! haha.

Love the 3 and 4 day weekend, and all my Holiday time is floating, so I can use it like vacation.

I also used to work graveyard, many years ago. Hit the bar after work, then stagger dazed and blinking out into the daylight at 10 or 11am, horrify the normal people on the street. They thought we were monsters.

    They were right.

I did it for over 5 years. Didn't mind it. No traffic and got to take care of shit during the weekdays that you couldn't if you worked a 9-5 shift.

My wife worked a wierd ass 2 nights 3 day shifts a week for a long time. That WRECKED her but when she had weeks she worked all nights she would be fine and liked it except for the not really getting to see me.

I worked Graveyard for 10 strait years. There's no amount of money you could pay me to go back to working that shift. I sacrificed my sleep schedule (still screwed up to this day) and mental well-being working that shift, and it wasn't worth it.

I'm a weird night person, so that has always sounded interesting to me.

I work some crazy shifts, never did a rigid graveyard though, sounds like it would be cool in the city traffic wise.

Gotta say the swing shift sounds bomb too, get to sleep in, but still have a normal enough life
