Over/under on the amount of new posters in here? And to all you other members, share this article on your twitter, Facebook or other social media. It will drive fans from other teams to Denny's other boards.

As much shit as I give Denny in OT; he truly created something special. Never in my life of messaging have I felt more comfortable speaking my mind. Let's try and reward the creator with more traffic.

Since you all can see, Dewayne Hankins is the guy I dealt with at the Blazers. I'm a long time internet and sports guy; I've dealt with several teams before. I have to say that these guys get it.

I bet the guys at BBF are hating life right now (are they still in existence?). And Denny should be thanking them. If it wasn't for the mass exodus this agreement never would have happened. And, kudos to Denny for creating such a great environment for us all.

I've been on BEdge since the Casey days, but lately, that place has gotten so pretentious. Excessive moderating (can't say "WTF." really now?), long winded posts that don't convey a message, sensationalist headlines, and posters thinking they're hot shit. Gimme a break. The layout change ~a year ago with the huge fonts and obscuring the fanposts/fanshots turned me off, but I stuck around because I like the flat thread format. Only reason I still visit there are for the media row reports.

I love how 90% of the comments are about how we allow swearing and how that might be too spicy for them.

I'm sure there will be an influx of new faces, but honestly I think too big of an influx in a short amount of time could really dilute this place - I can see discussions falling off the front page very quickly as the board fills up with new posts, but I guess we'll see.

I get that there are people who don't like swearing. But I enjoy it, and it's a great way to relieve stress. Especially stress that stems from watching your team getting its ass kicked.

No reason to look down upon those of us that do swear.

Blazers Reach Deal To Make "Rip City Two" The Team's Official Messageboard

The Portland Trail Blazers have reached agreement with "Rip City Two," a SportsTwo.com messageboard that will become the team's "official messageboard" this season. The agreement is one year in length and includes an option for a second season. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The organization's marketing department sought such a partnership after reaching the conclusion that their "IamATrailBlazersFan.com" messageboard, which was moderated in-house, was too burdensome and that a partnership with a preexisting messageboard would better achieve their goals of fostering discussion and reaching fans online.

Blazers Marketing VP Dewayne Hankins sees the partnership as another prong in his team's new online approach, which also includes a new mobile app and Casey Holdahl's relaunched "Forward Center" blog.

"A messageboard is only ever as good as the people who put content on it and moderate it," Hankins told Blazersedge. "[Our old messageboard] was always someone's job, besides their real job, they would just help moderate the messageboard when they had time. ... Without curation and moderation and good content, the boards become stale or hostile or somewhere in between. We just don't have the resources to dedicate full-time people to running messageboards. ... The good thing about Rip City Two is that they have a full cast of people who moderate the boards. The framework was already there."

Maybe Denny can now hire HCP as a moderator. He could just delete any new threads started by anyone with less than 1000 posts.

I am going to merge the older thread to this one. Usually we let the older thread stand, but we wanted to post the article on the homepage and this one was from BE.

Sorry to the poster that did the other thread.

I think the new members will get it eventually, knowing when to post inside a thread or create a new one. The good thing is mods merge threads if this gets a little out of hand. Personally I welcome new blood. I think it will stem a stronger community.
