Seriously, how many freaking first round picks do you need before you stop sucking? If I was them I would see if I could package Schultz and Gagne for something like Kulikov, Matthias and a very good, stay at home defenseman prospect. Then I would dump their number one for the best goalie prospect out there who is blocked by a starter.
It's pretty clear they have no idea what they are doing. Yakupov might turn out to be a PPG guy. The fact was that 8 out of the first 10 picks in that draft were defenseman. When they took RNH, I said at the time Landeskog was a much better fit for them. Just imagine that team with Landeskog and any one of those 8 defenseman taken in that draft. They would be so much better off right now.
The only reason they are still in Edmonton, or the NHL is because WAY WAY WAY in the past they were great. I don't see it happening again anytime soon. Even though Ryan Smyth is now 37 years old, I'd still like to see him playing for the Rangers.
