http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/436...ck_to_old_ball/<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>David Stern and the NBA has decided to bring back the leather ball, effective January 1st. The decision will be formally announced by the league later this week, according to sources close to the situation who spoke with ESPN.com. Criticsm of the new ball was widespread, with Steve Nash and Jason Kidd even complaining about cuts on their hands from the ball.</div>Wow, I guess they really are bringing it back. Good, the players didn't like it, and Stern should have consulted them before making a chage in the first place.

Stern admitting he was wrong...this is good. I've noticed that there has been less amazing passing by Nash, maybe this will mark the return of his signature wrap-around pass.

I think this is big and great news for them.

But you guys saw the facts, come on, the stats were about the same, the players that accused the ball for their mistakes, were consequently proven wrong. Ah well, as long as the players get what they want right?

Thank God... [IMG] I hope the players don't make any more excuses of playing poorly because of the ball anymore.

NBA players are already getting used to the new ball. Every other tweak David Stern has made is debatable, for good or bad, but what he is doing with the ball is downright horrible.

This is a good move by Stern. He is basically admitting that he was wrong, so he is fixing it. Even though they shouldnt have changed it in the first place, it is good that he is correcting it. The majority of the players didnt like it, so this is a good move. I wonder if the players are going to have to readjust to the old ball. I doubt it....

I'm optimistic. Now that the players are adjusted to the new basketball, what's the league going to be like using the old ball? I think he should have waited until next year to install the old ball back.

The cuts on the hands seem to have been the key in moving back to the old ball. I don't see anything else wrong with the new ball. Players complaints on the ball I believe had no effect in this decision. If you believe Stern was persuaded by that, your gullible because many other rules/decisions would be revoked then for that same reason.

I think its a good move to bring back the ball this early. It was really starting to cause problems...

Cuts would be enough in its self to get the old ball back. I know players complained earlier that they felt that they had to exchange balls every once in a while because it would become flat or something like that....I cant remember exactley what they said. And also, players were complaining. That is a big problem

Players complaints mean nothing to me and should mean nothing to Stern. If he listened to them, like I said there would be more changes and this zero tolerance rule would be revoked as well. But their not, there has to be factors besides players bitching to get something removed. As cuts are harmful to a player's a well being, Stern made the change. If there were no cuts being reciprocated from the new ball, I doubt the old ball would be returning imo.

The players are what bring the money in to the NBA. If they are unhappy with the ball that they are using, that should be enough for Stern to change it back. The ONLY reason that you are saying that it wouldnt be brought back just because the players would be complaining is because it is Stern. Most other commishioners would understand that they need to make the players happy....I have a hard time believing "cuts" were the only thing that made Stern bring the new ball back. Im sure that he got tired of people talking about it...
