During the eastern conference finals alot was made of Indiana's youth but detroit has all 5 starters under thirty. Darko/memo/tayshaun will develop into stars and that's not even considering Carlos Delfino, who the pistons drafted last year in the first round. Reports say that if Delfino was in the draft this year he would be a top 5 pick. they have tons of cap room to resign both Memo and 'sheed. The only person on the piston who is old is Elden Campbell(not counting LB) and he's not part of their long term plan. Regardless of what the pistons do in the finals this year they will grow. This will be first of many Finals for the current pistons. Many people question Joe D's moves like rip for stack and passing on Carmelo. But I learned not to question his moves.

Shouldn't this be in the Pistons forum too? This is like the 4th Pistons thread started here in the last few days.. Post it where it belongs.

Back to the topic.. I agree that the Pistons are built for the long term but I also think it's very important that they make sure they resign Okur. Although I am not so sure on Tayshaun's future as a consistent player I still do believe Darko will develop into a very good player some day.. Rip is also only 26 and will be good for probably atleast 6 strong seasons as well. And then they have Chauncey at 27 and the Wallaces at 29 and all three have many years of experience under their belt already. This team is only going to get better.

How can you judge if Delfino would be a top 5 pick without even seeing how he would've played this year? And based on the way he played in his final year of college basketball, he def. would not have been a top 5 pick this year.

But I agree, they're very much built for the future. Prince and Rip are still very young. Wallace is remotely young. Sheed is remotely young. And Darko will be a star in a few years. Add in guys like Delfino (who im not high on), and a drafted PG to take Billups job in a couple years, and thats still a solid, and developed team.

I do agree that the Pistons are built for the longterm, which should be great news for all of you Piston fans. They have a young roster, and they are deep enough to vie for the title. Not to mention, they aren't playing with their #2 draftee last season - Their future looks very bright.

Final year in college? Delfino plays in europe and has been for a while and by the sounds will stay there for at least one more season. It's the scouts that have stated he would likely be a top 5 lottery pick this year based on what they have seen from him.

I really think Joe D did a great job building this team. Because the fact there is never any turmoil in the locker room or during practices, the players love each other and love the city, and they all chip in by contributing in different ways other than scoring. This is a GM's dream to have a team like this. And best yet they have promising young stars which are patiently waiting their turn to step-up w/o crying and complaining about it.
