Any predictions on any moves..trades, possibilities on the celtics squad..and where do you see this team in the next couple years...
I predicted that vin baker had another alcohol problem on another thread based on his decline of performance and hey watta ya know...he has been suspended 3 games for violating the substance abuse contract...again....feel bad for the guy...its gonna be hard to get outta this slump....its deeper now..
I know this sounds bad but hopefully he will come back and then fall off the wagon again at some point soon. that would be his "third strike" at which point the celitcs may be allowed to terminate his contract
yea honestly, I think danny ainge put out the random testing to catch him off guard. I know that they would love to get rid of Baker and free up ALOT of cap space..Baker is a fighter and i praise him for his battle with substance abuse ..but he is not worth 13 mill a year...
I wouldnt mind having the vin baker we saw the first coupke weeks of the season. At that time they were suckers for not givcing him the damn ball more while he was hot. He was leading the league in fg% for funk sake he shouldve gotten more shots per game but since he got "the flu" hes looked like he did last year. i had my suspicions he was drinking again
As for a realistic move, perhaps the Celtics could swap Baker for Nick Van Exel. The Warriors would get rid of Van Exel, who doesn't sound happy there, they still have Speedy Claxton, who can run the point, and they also have guys(Chris Mullin) who have battled alcoholism who could help Baker. If it doesn't help him, than they can clear the cap space the Celtics would have when Baker gets his third strike, and sign a big name free agent.
u think theyre gonna trade van exel for baker? what yhhou think they are NUTS??? besides aquiring a player like nick would hurt the celtics. They already depend too much on ow percentage shooters for their points. Pierce, Davis, Welch, James, all guards. The celtics have ZERO post threat right now and cant go anywhere untilll they do
I know it's pretty mean, but I want Baker to blow it one more time so the Celts will be freed of his contract. Then they could have the cap space to sign Kobe, which I think is a really good idea. I want the Celtics to get him and trade Pierce for someone good at center, someone like Brad Miller. I'm not saying this will happen, but I think it's a good idea.
I think that Vin Baker will get caught again and then the Celtics will get rid of his contract. I would feel bad for Vin but then the Celtics would be in amuch better postion. However, trade Paul Pierce for Brad Miller? In my eyes, that if very unfair for the Celtics.
I feel Vin Baker will finally wake up and give up alcohol,(I don't believe that too but I just don't want to repeat after everyone.) Also, I see Paul Pierce traded by the next offseason for a real low-post player like Chris Webber or Kurt Thomas.
The Celtics aren't signing Kobe, they can't afford him with Baker's contract still being paid. Also why would they trade Pierce, a fan favorite who is a top 10 player in the NBA. Instead of trading him for a big man why not make run for someone like Stromile Swift or Mehmet Okur after this season.
Boston may go 1-4, the next five games. They are facing Houston,San Antonio,Washington,Detroit and the Knicks,
Mehmer Okur?? and where did you see that schedual Ming? The celtics just knocked off orlando, cleveland and houston and now have milwaukee and then houston again. The Knicks?? pffft. not scary at all. the celtics own the knicks The celts by the way are 6-1 against the eastern conference No way the celts sign kobe. they cant afford him. he doesnt want to come here. and doesnt really fit in with teh celtics tradition. adultery, potentially rape is not very celtic like behavior. Even if they did sign him they couldnt trade Pierce OR kobe for anything better than a brad Miller. Teams with great big men are just NOT going to be dumb enough to trade them for any guard no matter how good they are
The reason I say Mehmet Okur is, he's a decent big man who can run the floor, what more do the Celtics need from their center. If he can defend, rebound, hit some foul line jumpers, and run the floor that's good enough to advance in the playoffs.
I dont wanna waste money on a never was like okur just to advance in the playoffs. I want to see them get to a place were theyre contending for a championship even if it means waiting for a couple more years. Ainge needs to trade and draft smart and cant even look at free agents untill our cap situation is healthier to a point where we can go after a major star
