I'm excited that Andris "Sleepy" Biedrins is back on the active roster. Even though he is raw and still possibly undersized (although Cliff playing center makes me start to wonder what undersized really means) he could still be a shot blocking threat and a force on the offensive glass. Throw him to the wolves Monty, he is the only guy on the roster besides DD and Foyle that actually behaves like a true frontcourt player. I would love to see him develop a little bit while the roster is in limbo.
I'm not looking for much out of Biedrins offensively except for some work on the glass and available points around the basket. Defensively, he's probably going to rack up some unnecessary fouls given his inexperience, reportedly aggressive defensive style, and the way nba refs call the games (especially with rookies). But, i expect him to put in some good effort trying to disrupt passing lanes, block shots and rebound. Over-aggresiveness can be coached and refined, and supposedly Biedrins is a willing learner. The speed and physicality of the game are beyond what he's used to, so I'm expecting plenty of mistakes early on. It's to be expected. And I'd rather get the learning process for these younger players going now rather than waiting. It's easier to develop these players in practice when you see them play in actual competition. Not saying Biedrins needs to be logging huge minutes, but it would be nice if Montgomery can find some stretch of time in the first half to get him in the game, just see how he handles it.
We'll see how accurate the "Kmart, Chris Bosh, and Jermaine O'neil" comparrisons are. I think he could be a real deal if his defense, shotblocking and rebounding are as good as the scouting reports indicate. He's got good hands, he's tough and athletic. The key thing is that he plays tough because you can't have your inside players shying away from contact. I don't think his one-on-one skills are as polished as athletic power forwards Pau Gasol or Dirk Nowitzki, but he could have the potential to knock down an occasional Marcus Camby 20 footer, A Kmart style putback or alley oop, or some move where he can cut to the hoop because offenses are focussed on Murphy's outside shooting. I like the fact he's like 7 feet now right?
why is it that of the 29 first round draft picks 10 have been starters..... 20 of them get significant minutes 6 are on the IR ..... and yet we can't find a minute for biedrins to get in the game.... i hate the Warriors philosophy of developing its young talent..... they sit on them for two years it seems.....pietrus still isnt getting the minutes he deserves yet robinson, fisher ( mr shot selection) and cheaney get big minutes
It really pisses me off when I see someone like Al Jefferson getting significant minutes and contributing to his team, while Biedrins sits on the bench. And those that say that he is not physically ready, I think that is a bnch of BS. He may not be ready to play center, but he is ready to get some PT at PF or even SF if we want to play big. This is really p!ssing me off!

What do you have to lose? You're not going to the playoffs this year anyways.
absolutely-Donyell Marshall was glued to the bench 2 years then several injuries hit and they had to play him-a guy not good enough to play on a poor team..he had a string of games scoring 20+ with 10-18 boards and became a starter. Generally your skills evolve ON THE FLOOR,especially big men. The gene pool cranks out millions of guys 6-2,damn few 7-0. 6-2 guys don't get a tryout if they don't have skills, polish and desire. If a guy is 7ft you may have to settle for one of those qualities and hope as he plays the rest come along. Big men need to learn the physical game and where refs draw the line and you miss that in practice. After all these years,Robinson,Davis,Fisher are not going to get better but guys like Pietrus,Biedrens, flores and Zarko could improve a lot raising the whole team
