    With Mcgrady

    C - Yao, Dampier
    PF - Mcdyess ?
    SF - Jackson - Nachbar
    SG - Mcgrady, ?
    PG - D. Jones, ?

    Dampier would be a back-up C/PF

Francis, Mobley and cato for Mcgrady and Howard

    Howard for a Back-up gaurd

Taylor and a Pick for Dampier

Would need to get some back-up gaurds

    Without Mcgrady

    C - Yao, Dampier
    PF- Mcdyess, ?
    SF- Jackson, Nachbar
    SG - Francis - Mobley
    PG - D. Jones

    Dampier would be a back-up C/PF

I would Move Cato and Taylor for Dampier

I know, not likely but if i was Dawson this is what i would try and do.

I don't think there is much leverage for Dampier to come here. Since the trade would be a sign-n-trade, Dampier would have a lot of say in which team he goes to. He is after All-Star status and the best place for him to reach his goals is by going to a Eastern Conference team where he could get 35mpg and 15ppg.

    Anyways, my ideal lineup:

    C:Yao/Cato
    PF:McDyess/Taylor
    SF:Jackson/Griffin
    SG:Francis/Piatkowski
    PG:Reece Gaines/Frank Williams

I would find a way to trade Mobley in a three team trade and get Gaines and Williams in return. Both a young point guards who can play within a system. Gaines is 6-6, so he would make up for the loss of size by having Francis play the SG.

Howard as a guard??? Start him at PF, he'd get 16ppg and 8rbg, and McDice will play 35 games and get 6ppg and 4rbg

He meant that he would trade Howard for a backup point guard, but I have doubts about that also. As overrated as Howard is, he is still a reliable veteran who can produce when asked upon.

    Realistic roster:

    C - Yao
PF - Howard (can hit the open mid-range jumper, decent rebounder, should be a decent compliment to Yao)
    SF - T-Mac
    SG - Jim Jackson
    PG - Chucky Atkins*

    Backups
C - Michael Stewart*, Scott Padgett
    PF - Spoon
    SF - Adrian Griffin
    SG - Pike
    PG - Lue

*trade Mo Taylor to Boston (who needs frontcourt scoring) for Atkins and Stewart (whose contract expires after next season and well, he basically sucks but they need to match salaries). Chucky Atkins is a proven PG who can rack up assists.

They still need another PF and PG but i think that's a pretty good roster to go with.. maybe pick up someone like marquis daniels or mark blount if they're available.

I think we need Mo Taylor's production off the bench. He was the only good player in our otherwise weak bench and without him we would be lucky to have our bench score 10 points a game.

This trade does not help the bench one bit... Who's going to back up Yao?

Rockets are gonna do some more deals in the offseason, or atleast, they better.. We need a good PG. Ty Lue shouldnt be in the NBA. TIERRE BROWN, TIERRE BROWN. Im gonna sing his name until we get him.. God, hes got so much talent, only 25. In the Chronicle today, I read that we could get Reece Gaines, and maybe keep Boki (w00t).

They can get frontcourt scoring off the bench for cheaper than 8 million a season.. trading taylor gives the rockets options in the future to sign free agents. we've already seen that players want to play with Yao, and many players will probably be willing to take a pay cut, but they rockets can't sign anyone if they're capped out paying a bench player 8+ million a season. Besides, as much as JVG may like his production off the bench, you KNOW he'd rather have a PF who can rebound and defend.

apparently the Rockets are also getting Andrew Declerq and Reece Gaines from Orlando. That should shore up the bench.

Declerq? He is just hustle, no skill. If he did not hustle as much as he does, he would be a high-school coach right now. However, his hustle can be infectious sometimes and it would be great energy plays to inspire our team. I don't see him getting more than 10 minutes a game, though.

That's what the Rockets need though.. some energy off the bench, someone who can play 10 minutes a game while Yao is sitting. Sort of like a Mark Madsen type, I think he'd be an alright backup and at the very least, he makes a LOT less than Kelvin Cato and his contract expires a lot sooner.

Another good pickup might be Chris Andersen from Denver who's a free agent.. pick him up for the league minimum, he can come off the bench and rebound, block shots. Good role player.

What we need, though, is scoring off the bench, and right now Taylor is the only player that gives us that on a consistent basis.

    Boki

Anyone else think the Rockets should keep this guy? I don't see why he didn't get more PT at the end of the season when he was obviously playing hard and playing well. I watched the Rockets play the Sonics in Seattle when Francis and Mobley both sat out and the Rockets won. Boki locked down Rashard Lewis and scored some pretty clutch baskets.

In the playoffs he was able to score off the dribble and hit some 3's.. And that "block" on Malone (all ball, sympathy foul) was money.

For a while he looked like he was gonna be a bust, but we were starting to see flashes of why the Rockets picked him up and now he might be traded?

I don't see a reason why Golden State would trade Dampier for Taylor. After all, Dampier is a much coveted free agent and they would get much more for him than Taylor. Plus, Dampier wants to be an All-Star and being the third or fourth option on offense won't help him achieve his goal.

But paying that much for bench scoring... is not good for the future of the franchise. His contract will expire in 2020, if the Rockets could trade him for someone with a shorter contract, they can free up cap space to sign a player who will be able to do more than just score (ie. rebound and defend)

Yeah the guy we got from Dallas, the Greek kid. He looks like he'll be good for us. Runs the offfence well, gets a good 14 ppg., not scared to take it in the paint, and dishes the ball out well. The year after the coming one, we should be able to bring him into Houston. Look at his profile:<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">NBA Comparison: Steve Nash

Strengths: An excellent athlete that shows rapid development in the last couple of years. He is speedy, tough and has very quick reactions. He's got unlimited energy in his game. His leaping ability is impressive. His offensive game is aggressive. He likes to run in the open court and penetrate the paint. His crossover dribble is quick and brakes ankles. His passes are money in the bank; has quick decision making. He runs the offensive sets successfully and delivers the ball to the right person in the right time. He is an excellent defender in the full-court press. He puts great pressure on the ball when defending.

Weaknesses: His shooting has range but needs polish. He's more of a streaky shooter. Needs to put on some muscles. His fearless game may cause him foul-troubles.</div> If all goes well with Badiane, then we could have an under 27 lineup like this:

    C - Yao
    PF - Badiane
    SF - Nachbar
    SG - McGrady
    PG - Vassilis Spanoulis

But thats for the future, Gaines looks to be coming to Houston, so we can have him at starting PG.
