I taped it but will likely just skim through it. I wish they would just end the show already. Or get the people who wrote the shows around season 3-7 give or take to come back.
I saw that. If Michael Jordan were still playing he wouldn't be as far past his prime as this show is.
I've seen every episode, at least 3 times and I still love. The new stuff is kinda crappy, but I still get a good laugh.
The new one's aren't that great, but their watchable. The Simpsons are no longer at the level that I make sure I don't miss it, or get pissed that I missed it. But they should be cancelling the Simpsons before they cancel King of the Hill...which reminds me, I'm pissed that I missed King of the Hill tonight.
There was that period a few years ago where they were literally unwatchable. I thought that stupid "MLB/Bart on Ritalin" episode was the just epitome of shitty Simpsons episodes. It's recovered lately, but it'll never reach where it used to be. These days its funny enough to keep my attention, but not worth scheduling around.
The first 12-15 seasons were perfect. It was scary how every single episode was funny. But now they've just run out of gas.
The best summation of The Simpsons (I forget where I read this, unfortunately): 1-8 - "Name one thing mankind's done that's better." "The Renaissance." "This is better." 9 - "Homer needs to be louder, angrier, and have access to a time machine." 10-12 - "This was supposed to be a thing of beauty. Not this abomination." 13-16 - "It's funny, but not ha-ha funny." 17-present - "That's boring. You're boring everybody. Quit boring everybody." I agree with this chart completely. (And for those unaware, all of the "descriptions" were Simpsons quotes.)
It's been on for 17+ years? Really? Holy crap. Where does the time go. I still think of it as 'one of those new shows'. barfo
They are on season 20. That stuns me, as well. The first 9-10 seasons of the show were a huge part of my growing up (from ages 11-21 or so), and I'm a huge fan of the show in that time period. But the show completely lost me years ago and I had lost track of how many seasons there have been. 20 seasons is insane. It's not surviving on merit, IMO. It's surviving on the momentum of being an institution.
I watched last nights episode and laughed hard several times. While I'm not the embodiment of a laugh track that I was in the first decade of the show, several good laughs in a half hour is as good of a rate of cracking me up as any other show I've caught recently. STOMP
I could never watch the show. Just thought it was stupid for some reason... but it's much better then that crap Family Guy.
