The stat to end all "he'll be the next Jordan" debates Most 50 point games since 1980: Michael Jordan: 37 Allen Iverson: 7 Dominique Wilkins: 7 Kobe Bryant: 5 Bernard King: 5
Damn there definately is no next Jordan for now. Iverson's up there in age and I don't see Kobe getting 32 more 50 point games even though he's the man. But then again, never say never.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheNextJordan8:</div><div class="quote_post">Whoa,Whoa... Hold up what does scoring have to do with making your teammates better??</div> LMAO as if Kobe can make his teammates better
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting WadeDynasty:</div><div class="quote_post">LMAO as if Kobe can make his teammates better</div> Ya I guess you don't average 8 assists a game at shooting guard for just you know passing to yourself and scoring. Kobe is putting up 28/8/7 a game with 26 effiency, he has cut down on his turnovers the last couple of games and has playing exceptionally well, I mean he is doing more than Dwayne Wade and I would consider him the leader of the heat right? Also did we mention Wade has Shaq who just demands 2 guys at a time, ya that is a good advantage. The thing is, Jordan is Jordan, he was the best in the league, nobody had every seen a player like him before, never. He put those numbers over a 20 year career, people like Kobe, Iverson still have a lot of career left, especially Kobe, now I am not saying Kobe can break that record but I expect him to get a few more 50+ games under his belt when the Lakers get a decent point guard to handle the ball, thats if that happens. That record will never be broken why? Cuz he is Micheal Jordan, end of story.
^ its not as hard to get 8 assists per game when the ball is in your hands 90% of the possessions. Any one can pad a stat column. Kobe is a very good player...he's a GREAT talent. The only thing that will stop him from being fit to carry Jordans shoes is the fact that he's got a horrible attitude. Shaq and Karl Malone, 2 of the most liked guys in the NBA cant stand him. Phil Jackson, who dealt with Rodman "The Worm" cant stand him!! He's gunna have to grow up to be hall of fame worthy
Jordan was so much more than 50pts games. Not to mention that he probably had the most and1s of any player in the NBA.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">He's gunna have to grow up to be hall of fame worthy</div>I disagree. His attitude could get worse than the worst its ever been and hed easily get into the hall of fame provided he keeps up his efforts on the court.

You actually think any of those guys will get that many with the rest of their careers? Do you even understand what it takes to score 50 points in a game? Its pure magic....Every single thing has to be perfect. Also, you need someone feeding you the ball at the rigth place and at the right time. You know...kobe probably could break that record, but his team would end up losing every single on of those games.
i dont care if kobe breaks the record or not. as long as the lakers start winning then thats all i want.

What Mike did off the ball to way more important to me than what numbers he put up. He did all the little things that make players great. I find It sicking to see people compare Kobe to him just like they did with Vince, Stack and at times Mcgrady. None of those players can or will ever compare with Jordan or the extra things he did on the floor, their best days would be MJ's worse. There won't ever be a shooting guard who can carry his team to 6 championships. As for the fans in this thread saying Kobe getting assists suddenly means he makes them better, no, thats not how It works. Assists don't tell the whole story about making players better than they are.

If we count the post season, I wouldn?t be surprised if Jordan had forty four 50+ point performances.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting WadeDynasty:</div><div class="quote_post">LMAO as if Kobe can make his teammates better</div> Care to back the comment up with facts? Take a look at the career year his teammates are having from the field, in the BETTER Conference. Let's start with your former Miami Heat players. Lamar Odom // 50.3% up from 43%. Caron Butler // 45.1% up from 38% Chucky Atkins // 44.3% up from 41.8% Chris Mihm // 53.3% up from 50% You don't think Kobe makes his teammates better, you're sadly mistaken.
its a stat that omits context, the contemporary nba has a lot more depth at the two. i would like to see jordan do that against pierce, kobe, tmac, ray allen who could attack him at the other end. mitch richmond, joe dumars and clyde drexler just don't compare. moreover, the league is proliferated with defensive specialists (prince, bowen), so its a league where every team has a micheal cooper.

For starters, you did not have as many teams so talent was less spread out around the league. The quality shooting guards might be better now, but only on the offensive side of the ball. another one would be the rule changes the NBA has gone through (excluding this season). Until this season, defenses got away with a lot more, which is why we saw so many teams struggling to get 100 points.
