http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/huskies/2011749015_umen01.html two pretty darn good players coming to a team that's really only losing Pondexter. Coup for UW.
yeah, kind of odd how, 5 minutes after announcing it and interviewing over the phone with the Seattle radio station (I listened during the interview), he got a call from Calipari and never ended up signing the letter. :hmm:
What are you implying? There's actually no rule against it but Cal said "I just don't do it." Yeah...
Don't get me wrong...if Cal pulls it off I'll give him props for the cojones it took to do it. I'm impressed that he went (publicly) to a level most don't even do privately (I can't see Romar doing this..in fact, he said he's not going to). As for the "I didn't do it", it's b.s. I was listening to the radio report when they asked a friend or family member who he was on the phone with and they said "Coach Calipari".
Jones reportedly called Cal to tell him of the decision to attend Washington. Cal must've said something fast and made it good enough for Jones to hold off.
sounds about right. I thought Cal meant he didn't talk to him...I figured any phone call was initiated by Jones, since Cal's not quite THAT stupid to call out of season. By all accounts, JOnes is a good kid who's having a hard time making up his mind b/c he doesn't want to disappoint one of two pretty vocal fan bases (one wants to keep the NW kid up here, and Ashley Judd's probably got him on speed dial, which would make it tough for me to choose UW also). But I was almost certain that once his buddy Ross committed to UW, the decision was made for him. He may get lost in the crowd a bit at UK. He'd dominate the Pac-10, though.
He could and probably would be a contender for POY in the Pac-10. He could do great things at UK though. A weird situation for him to be in to say the least.
