Just watched this movie. I was looking forward to it. It’s an interesting idea.

The movie was ok. The last 30 minutes were pretty lame. Edge of Tomorrow did it better.

It was such a cool idea too.

Also I was reading a review that said Pratt doesn’t have the chops to pull off drama. Here he was being told that he would eventually become his father and you just don’t see the emotions. He looked blank.

It was a hell of an idea

Yeah, it totally missed out on the gravity of that. He has the chops...we've seen it in other movies. It just terrible writing and direction leading to bad execution by some of the actors including Pratt.

The comic relief guy was used terribly. Telling the other dude he couldn't take the alien claw for a memento. Why the fuck not? Plus he just through himself into the frame at the end out of no where. He should have jumped in that final fight at last moment to help in some hilarious but important way.

There was no need for the "aliens" to be cargo of some other alien beings in a crashed UFO buried in the snow. It's to fucking contrived. It was just explanation of how they got there. They could have just been ancient terrestrial creatures that have laid frozen for 1000s of years under the ice and snow in Russia. That would have made the fact that they thaw out because of global warming caused by humans to be even more fucking terrifying. We brought this on ourselves and it puts in our our mind there could be ancient terrestrial creatures that are hibernating as we speak and could thaw out and kill us in 50 years when shit melts. It connects it to reality.

The whole they are being sent because they die before that time and it stops a paradox and the solders sent back originally aren't born yet was very sloppily thrown in there by Pratt and the other dude in a quick exposition. They could have done a lot better with explanaing and showing that or using it as a twist we find out later. To have them quickly mention it and never hear it mentioned again kind of ruins the point of it.

Then there is the we have a loop open between this time and that and we can't open another loop because we don't really know what we are doing and our time traveling system is being held together by bubblegum and rubber bands deal seemed lazy too.

I liked that he interacted with his grownup daughter in the future. They could have done better with it. Like with the becoming his dad deal you mentioned.

    The creatures were cool

It was just an awkward feeling movie, mostly because the dialogue was terrible

I really thought the aliens were going to be people who were infected.

It made so much sense. They were foreshadowing about vaccines. Such a missed opportunity.

Hollywood sucks per usual. Without a book. true story, or remake to follow they're hopeless.
