Two former drug addicts--Matt Brown and Court McGee--are currently fighting in the UFC. Both are graduates of The Ultimate Fighter reality television show. McGee is the 11th season champion while Brown was a competitor on season seven. What these guys have in common is that they have both overdosed on heroin and flat-lined. Both of them were resuscitated (though I guess that goes without saying). Matt Brown's nickname--The Immortal--comes from the fact that he was dead for almost a minute before being brought back. McGee's heart was restarted with defibrillators. Next time somebody says the UFC is for thugs consider the opportunity these two guys have been afforded. They've gone from literal death to the big leagues. In what other field might these two have been able to reach these heights after their pasts?
It's hard not to like either one of these two guys. They were the ones I liked most from their respective seasons, because of what they went through to get where they was, and just because of how they fight. Both drive their bodies like they stole them, go all out and lay it all on the line. I enjoy guys that come to fight, and respect guys that get out of the bad areas of their lives like that.
