After ten seasons and over 240 contestants SpikeTV's flagship reality show The Ultimate Fighter returns for an eleventh season on Wednesday immediately following UFC Fight Night: Florian vs. Gomi.

This season coaches Chuck Liddell (season one) and Tito Ortiz (season three) return to reignite their rivalry and to coach 16 (from 28) middleweight fighters towards a six-figure contract in the UFC.

The TUF 11 Finale is expected to take place June 9th with the third Liddell/Ortiz fight slated for UFC 115 tentatively scheduled for on June 12th.

The format of the show this season has been slightly retooled. Instead of having 32 fighters randomly paired-off to fight for a spot on the show, 28 fighters will compete for 14 spots with two of those losing fighters (or possibly two outside fighters) earning "wild card" positions on the show.

Announced fighters include: Rich Attonito, Seth Baczynski, Charles Blanchard, Josh Bryant, Chris Camozzi, Brent Cooper, Jacen Flynn, James Hammortree, Joseph Henle, Charley Lynch, Kris McCray, Court McGee, Clayton McKinney, Kyle Noke, Victor O'Donnell, Norman Paraisy, Constantinos Philippou, Greg Rebello, Nick Ring, Jordan Smith, Ben Stark, Lyle Steffens, Brad Tavares, Warren Thompson, Kyacey Uscola, Cleburn Walker, Jamie Yager, and Woody Weatherby.

Announced coaches include: Tito Ortiz, head coach (Cleber Luciano, assistant coach; "Razor" Rob McCullough, assistant coach; Saul Soliz, assistant coach) and Chuck Liddell, head coach (Howard Davis Jr., assistant coach; Scott Epstein, assistant coach; John Hackleman, assistant coach; Jake Shields, assistant coach).

The show airs every Wednesday at 10:00PM except for the debut which will air an hour late following Fight Night on the 31st.

I know a lot of ppl just don't get up for TUF anymore, but for some reason I still enjoy it. The cheesy and sometimes disgusting pranks, the faux anger, the douchebags and of course the mediocre to terrible fights. I guess it's because this gives fans a chance to know the fighters a bit better than they could before.
I think it's important to have a vested interest (like'em or hate'em) in the guys who are fighting rather than watching a bunch of fighters you know next to nothing about.

The first episode was very briskly paced. They got through all the fights but the guys aren't shown entering the house just yet.

Couple of journeymen fighters in the group as usual. Noke is very experienced.

The "wild card" format is a little strange but we'll see how it plays out.

The one guy's nose was crushed. He's going to need reconstruction on it for sure. Dana probably paired those guys off to prove a point about teammates fighting.

Also, hardly an hour into the series and Tito is already a jabbering fool. He's so tongue-tied I wonder if he is secretly dyslexic or if he has an impediment. Or maybe he is just a fool.

They had him going against the self proclaimed "Hebrew Hammer" though. I could have looked good against that guy.

A good first show. Only one match where we had to suffer watching two guys gassed slap each other. Good job of hyping each guy that got into the house. Looks like there should be competitive matches every week.

Could do without the side drama for the most part, but did like the jab Chuck took comparing quitting to tapping due to stricks.

In Tito's defence (wait, what?) he tapped due to exhaustion, which may or may not be worse. Since then he hasn't gassed out like that in a fight. Frank just dummied him.

Clayton Mckinney, looked pretty good in his first fight. He has potential to win it all I think.

Kyle Noke has to be one of the fav's, pretty experienced.

    The coaches liked Nick Ring.

These kinds of things tend to favour wrestlers with power in their hands. Dunno who that might be in the group.

They made an effort to overlook Jake Shields during the coach introductions, huh?

Kyle Noke looked good. Certainly not a great fight but you have to expect some sloppy ones in the first round.

    Nick Ring--first pick. Go Canada!

Re: The Ultimate Fighter 11: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz

So I haven't tried MMA fighting. But if I just lost in the ring on something well known as a triangle hold, the least thing I would want to do is get a lesson about it right after the loss . . . especially on national TV.

Tito is so full of himself . . . was what he did after the fight a typical coaching technique . . . because I swear Tito did that more for him (and trying to look good on camera) than for the fighter.

Re: The Ultimate Fighter 11: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz

a lot of MMA fighters actually do stuff like that, GSP is well known for going back into the dressing room after a fight and working on shit he thought he did wrong, even in victory, the Hardy fight would be the latest example of that, he worked on his BJJ after he couldn't finish Hardy. I am sure there are other examples, I just can't think of them off the top of my head.
