1994- With the 16th pick, Golden State selected 6-11 Clifford Rozier from Louisville. Rozier never panned out, averaging just 5.0 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game in two seasons in Golden State. 1995- Warriors draft Joe Smith with the 1st overall pick passing up Antonio McDyess (2nd), Rasheed Wallace (4th), Kevin Garnett (5th) and Damon Stoudamire (7th). WOW. Guess you can say Smith never panned out. 1996- The Warriors' 11th pick in the draft was another big man, 6-11 Todd Fuller. Fuller averaged 4.0 points per game and 3.3 rebounds per game. 1997- With the eighth pick in the draft, Golden State took a chance on another big man, Adonal Foyle from Colgate. I'm not going to diss Foyle but wasn't this the year Pierce was drafted? 1998- With the fifth pick, the Warriors chose Vince Carter from North Carolina. Moments later, the Warriors struck a deal with Toronto. The Warriors sent Carter and an undisclosed amount of cash to the Raptors for the fourth pick of the draft, Antawn Jamison, also from North Carolina. Do I even have to get into this? 1999- Traded the 10th pick in the draft, Bimbo Coles and Duane Ferrell to Atlanta for Mookie Blaylock and the 21st selection in the draft two days prior to the draft?and drafted Vontego Cummings...is he still in the NBA? 2000 The Warriors owned Washington?s first-round pick in the 2000 NBA Draft, which resulted in the seventh overall pick (Chris Mihm was selected in this spot)?Prior to the draft, the Warriors traded that pick, along with John Starks, to the Chicago Bulls in a three-team trade that sent Toni Kukoc to the 76ers and brought Larry Hughes and Billy Owens to Golden State from Philadelphia. Both of them are gone and never did much for the Warriors. 2001- Finally the Warriors have success in the draft while drafting Jason Richardson, Troy Murphy, and Gilbert Arenas. 2002- The Warriors draft Mike Dunleavy with the 3rd overall pick. This was still a questionable pick... 2003- The Warriors select Michael Pietrus with the 11th overall pick. I guess only time will tell...
1997- With the eighth pick in the draft, Golden State took a chance on another big man, Adonal Foyle from Colgate. I'm not going to diss Foyle but wasn't this the year Pierce was drafted? That would be T-mac, my friend.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rudeezy:</div><div class="quote_post">Even worse.</div> LOL The 1996 draft was the worst by far. Look at all these familar names that go after the warriors picked Todd Fuller. 13. Kobe Bryant Lower Merion HS 14. Sacramento Predrag Stojakovic PAOK (Greece) 15. Phoenix Steve Nash Santa Clara 16. Charlotte (from Miami) Tony Delk Kentucky 17. Portland Jermaine O'Neal Eau Claire HS 19. New York (from Atlanta) Walter McCarty Kentucky 20. Cleveland Zydrunas Ilgauskas Lithuania 24. LA Lakers Derek Fisher
Haha, it's a damn shame man. It's not really that bad until it's pointed out, then you think the Warriors blew it big time. And it also isn't all drafting, they had tons of great players who walked or traded. 2001 was a great draft though, just a little upset they couldn't hang on to Arenas. Murphy is a double double every game, and J-Rich will be a star for years to come in this league. Hopefully they'll be able to hang onto them.
The front office management are born suckers that's why. They were probably the kids that we all used to cheat out of all their good baseball cards in exchange for all the worthless trading cards. Some of those suckers would even trade their best rookie cards for handfuls of cheek-cutting, stale, rock-hard pieces of Topps bubblegum that I never bothered to chew because of the potential mouth and tooth injuries.

Reading that list I feel very bad for the Warriors. Proper drafting is very important in the NBA, one year can make or break a franchise. 2001 was a good year, except that Arenas left. Maybe your fortunes will change soon. I wish you guys good luck, time to see a change of power in the West.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rudeezy:</div><div class="quote_post">2003- The Warriors select Michael Pietrus with the 11th overall pick. Dont get started on VC for Jamison. The Warriors had no chance at VC. Toronto wanted VC all along. The Warriors wanted AJ all along. We just did not want Dallas getting AJ. That is why that trade went down. Who was picked after Jamison that was good? The NVE trade sure reminds me of the Mookie trade. I wanted Jason Terry so bad too. Vonteego was like Arenas. A good steal. Larry Hughes could have been a good player had he taken better shots. I hope he ends up doing well. Jrich is going to be an all star by 2005. Murphy has shown he can play. Arenas' should have been signed to a 2 year deal with a team option. Dunleavy still has a chance to pan out. But I wish we could have gotten Amare. Petrius is going to be good. He just needs the PT.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting kobeonfire:</div><div class="quote_post">St. Jean's gotta go...</div> They need a GM who doesn't have a reputation as being a joke.
I'm just tired of the Warriors playing it "safe" every year and not taking a chance. When they picked Fuller, it wasn't a bad pick at the time, it was the safe pick. He averaged 20 points and 10 boards in the ACC which is pretty good. Maybe we just need a little luck in the future...
At this point in time, I feel Speedy Claxton is a better player than Gilbert Arenas. Better ball handler, better defense. Sure Arenas is taller and was flashier but hell he turns the ball over so much. Claxton is alot cheaper to have too. Arenas was asking for too much and he's not proven consistent. Too much troubles to deal with. Temper flares and doing stupid off court stuff. Maybe that's why the Warriors didn't try so hard.
Having a good team is all about balance I think since we've had no center piece in the franchise it makes it difficult to keep players that want to stay for lesser money instead of stat-mongers only going for the max money i.e. Antwan Jamison. I think that's why he was booed by a lot of Warrior fans at the arena after getting traded. But back to the subject, yes, Speedy is an excellent player that plays big and is working within the Warrior budget. Plus Claxton gets to start which is what he wanted all along.
The Warriors have never been in good GM's hands. They traded away star players and drafted total busts. This team can make a run for the worst managed team in the NBA. Looking at this, I feel sad for your team. Thanks for bringing this up Rudeezy.

If we had Jerry West, Cohan would still find a way to prevent West from getting the staff he needs to train, coach, scout, and draft players.
warriors always goin for the safe pics, who are already devloped in college.......... they dont take too many chances on the developin high flyin athletes, cept for pietrus
And that's why whoever decided to draft Joe Smith, Todd Fuller, Clifford Rozier or whoever are just freakishly stupid and incompetent. They should be kicked in the family stones until they get all purple in the face and crumple up in a corner, fetal position with tears coming out of their eyes. I'm not unhappy with Pietrus but to draft a french version of Jason Richardson? Me thinks the front office is not confident if they can resign Jrich for the right reasonable price. If he asks for the max, this franchise is screwed like it always is. Anyway, I thought we would go for Ridnour as the poor man's John Stockton, but that was before we got Speedy Claxton and NVE. I'd rather take a chance on Travis Outlaw but he'd take so long to develop and you wouldn't know if he'd be self-motivated to try and become a superstar. He could be way way better than a Portland Darius Miles or he could turn out to be a Cleveland Darius Miles. It's really a big gamble whether he can play smart and develop all he has with his potential. But what about guys like Kobe, Rashard Lewis, Kevin Garnett, T-mac. You can't teach height and athleticism and speed.
