Surprised that no one quoted Ron Thorn's comments from Al Iannazzone's column in today's Record--here are some of the more notable quotes as to Nets current (rebuilding) plans:

"Thorn wouldn't rule out something big.

"We're looking at several things," he said.

"We still may make a trade or two. There are some free agents we're looking at. This is not going to be our final roster."

Thorn intimated that he and GM Kiki Vandeweghe could look to deal a power forward.

Our guess is Stromile Swift and/or restricted free agent Nenad Krstic, who is more of a center, but why squabble?

Thorn said the Nets are looking for a wing player, a backup shooting guard or combo guard.

Point guard Marcus Williams continues to be on the trading block.

The Nets have talked to Chicago about a package that includes forward Andres Nocioni. They could renew talks with Denver for Marcus Camby.

They're also waiting for a team to give Krstic an offer to see if they can work out a sign-and-trade for him.

Whatever the Nets do, the goal is to have flexibility in the summer of 2010 to make a run at LeBron James and that vaunted free agent class.

But it doesn't mean the Nets won't try to be playoff-caliber in the meantime. Thorn wants that, at least....."

Rod Thorn is getting to sound like he did after K-mart walked and we would up with the likes of Mercer, Buford, et al. The "Zones' column sounds like a bunch of wishful thinking since nothing much else is going on!

I agree, most is just speculation and whatnot. Writers need to ear their paychecks somehow [IMG]
