http://www.mcgilldaily.com/view.php?aid=5450Hersh described video footage depicting U.S. atrocities in Iraq, which he had viewed, but not yet published a story about. He described one video in which American soldiers massacre a group of people playing soccer. ?Three U.S. armed vehicles, eight soldiers in each, are driving through a village, passing candy out to kids,? he began. ?Suddenly the first vehicle explodes, and there are soldiers screaming. Sixteen soldiers come out of the other vehicles, and they do what they?re told to do, which is look for running people.? ?Never mind that the bomb was detonated by remote control,? Hersh continued. ?[The soldiers] open up fire; [the] cameras show it was a soccer game.? ?About ten minutes later, [the soldiers] begin dragging bodies together, and they drop weapons there. It was reported as 20 or 30 insurgents killed that day,? he said. If Americans knew the full extent of U.S. criminal conduct, they would receive returning Iraqi veterans as they did Vietnam veterans, Hersh said. ?In Vietnam, our soldiers came back and they were reviled as baby killers, in shame and humiliation,? he said. ?It isn?t happening now, but I will tell you ? there has never been an [American] army as violent and murderous as our army has been in Iraq.? Wow. I'm assuming this is true considering this mans credentials. This is a very strong accusation...we will probably never know about the atrocities.
We will know what happened in a few years, once everything is declassified. as for the most violent and Murderous army in US history, its not even close. the guys needs to review his history book and take a look at the American Civil War.
I'm disgusted that my nation does these things and excuses it by saying they do this to decrease terror, in some effort to keep up safe. These types of atrocities, along with torture, Abu Ghraib, secret prisons, detaining people with no charges, only serve to send young Muslim kids running to defend Islam and kill the infidel Americans.I?m more disgusted that so many Americans don?t see this as the terror recruiting tool that it is. Or that so many Americans dismiss this type of behavior because we are somehow the ?good guys? in this disaster.
For most of our history, the US has been on the defensive, but since 9/11 people have learned that we have to get to the problem before they get to us. Thats what we did with Iraq. Unfortunely, there are corrupt soldiers in our army, but we have them and so do many other armies. Its just something we cant help much. But its not like the gonverment is saying "get em "Raqis and torture them!!!". And as said above, there has been worse wars where America was ruthless(WW2-Civil War particular). Its war and these things are going to happen, one of many problems that come along with a war.

US got fed up with the terrorists, it had been going on since the 80's and have amounted to the Twin Towers falling. Like I said, we went on the offensive and decided to take care of these terrorists which includes the Iraqi gonverment.

Psh...This doesn't surprise me, honestly. I have heard stories, but I have never really thought about it too much...at least someone is willing to tell the truth.
Wow, I thought you would be more understading....you really dont see it. THEY ARE ALL TERRORISTS!!!! THE IRAQ GONVERMENT WERE SUPPORTING THE PEOPLE WHO WERE ATTACKING US. ITS NOT CALLED THE WAR ON AL QUEDA, FROM DAY 1 IT HAS BEEN CALLED THE WAR ON TERRORISM.which includes the Iraqi gonverment.
Iraq was a terrorist state, they've shown that time and time again. lets not forget that while he was dictator Saddam invaded two countries, launched missles into a third neutral coutry, attacked his own citizens with nerve gas, attempted the assasination of a former US president, countlessly broke the no fly zone agreement, starved and tortured his own citizens into submission, and there is a lot of other things which I'm leaving out. Saddam and Iraq are by no means this innocent little country thats getting picked on by the big bad USA. Funds for the 9/11 attacked did come from Iraq, as well as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egpyt, Syria, Turkministan, Ereteria, and others. If the US has massacred some innocents its because of the situation that is being caused by terrorist. the US soldiers are on high alert at all times because of the constant threat of road bombs, car bombs and armed militants. that much stress is going to cause small things to spiral out of control. the writer of that article mentions a soccer game "massacre", well if a bomb goes off and you're a soldier over there, you're going to be edgy and probably a little trigger happy. this isn't anything new in war, this happened during the world wars all the time.
Honestly I think there is just more media coverage of it. I think it happened just as much before just nothing was done or said.
Once more for the road because it seems that some of you don?t understand: Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. The president and his co-defendants came into office and from day one planned to invade Iraq, terror and 9/11 gave them the excuse they needed. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 and in fact the man behind 9/11 is still on the loose because we are in Iraq. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11.
