I have to say that Saints kicker John Carney has been a class act in how he is handling the dramatic (and missed) PAT last week.

"It's one of those things that you replay hundreds of times. Dwelling on it will probably not be a real positive, productive thing. I'll have to bury this soon. Maybe, somewhere down the road, I'll see a silver lining. But I haven't found it yet. It's extremely disappointing, almost to the point of embarrassment. I was as shocked as anyone."

I expected him to hide from the media, but he didn't hide or seek them out with an excuse. Above is an example of a number of quotes he has given.

    I hope Leon is listening.

"First I have to look at myself.... andsince we both know that can't be it. So then I've got to look at the fans and the media, my team-mates and coaches, referees, announcers, cammera-man...... It could even be you, Chuck."

If it were me I would have found the nearest hole to climb into, brought a BIG bottle of my friend John Daniels and consider what life is like underground.

Good thing that it wasn't the playoffs...that would have been worse.

VF, isn't that what Saddam tried to do? It didn't look like it worked to well for him. Of course, I doubt that our military will hunt John Carney down for missing an extra point.

"John Daniels"? Is the the store brand version of Jack Daniels, or just a play on the name "John" Carney?

lol.... John Daniels? I was wondering who was going to jump on that one first. Always count on Chip to catch the wording errors. Thanks Chip! Keep up the good work!

I really was hoping for an intentional play on words. It was clever, don't you think?

I think Foghorn Leghorn summed Chip up best when he said, "That boy is sharper than a sack of wet mice."

It was a play on words, from the movie Scent of a Woman.

"Go down and get me a bottle of John Daniels..."

"Umm...sir, don't you mean JACK Daniels?"

"Son, when you've known him as long as I have, you call him John. HooAhh!"

Sorry...I tend to bring in movie references from time to time.

So it was intentional. Good! I love a good pun, quote, or odd-reference myself. Glad to count you among the membership in that club... There are quite a few of us here.
