I don't think his penalty is harsh enough (these fines and suspensions rarely are) but it is pretty standard. Kind of strange that liars who argue their case (Sonnen, etc.) seem to get their sentences reduced but guys who admit wrongdoing get the full penalty, no?
There is some speculation that Silva actually injected steroids/HGH into his spine to help the recovery process. If true he took an INSANE risk in order to heal more rapidly. Must really, really need the money. No need to detail the kind of trouble you can get into messing with spinal fluid.
In related news the amount of testosterone Chael Sonnen reportedly injected has been characterized as "gargantuan" and "incomprehensible". Six months with time served, twelve months... yeah no big deal until someone drops dead.
