Conversely, even considering Thibodeau's track record, a coach with more of a big-picture approach might be a better fit for an organization unsure of whether its franchise player returns to an elite level of play in the near future and if he does, exactly who or how experienced the supporting cast around Rose will be.

    So....

Granted, you play the games one at a time. Thibs gets his team ready to play each game, and coaches like it's game 7 of the championship series. This seems to me to be a short term focus, or not particularly related to the big picture.

Game after game, key players log big minutes. By the time playoffs arrive, we're dinged up and players asked to step up their games after a grueling regular season.

The big picture are his schemes, which are superb. But the big picture really is managing the players' minutes so they're energized and healthy come playoffs. Or even for the upcoming 4 games in 6 nights.

The big picture is recognizing playoffs are futile without Rose at MVP level PLUS a sidekick who's better than anyone we've had since Kukoc or Brand. That championships are not one year plans, but a series of well done trades, drafts, free agent signings, and most importantly, developing the talent you already have.

The big picture is not sacrificing a dynasty for a chance to make it to the second round.

The big picture is the right number of minutes and even DNP CD for Jo so his feet can heal.

Sure, play the schemes. But Jimmy needs to be taught to be a star. Snell looks amazing when he plays, but he couldn't get floor time unless three guys ahead of him couldn't play.

Teague. Turning him into a solid backup who can step in if Rose misses a stretch of games is on Thibs.

Making the playoffs in this East isn't that impressive.

The guy needs to take a chill pill and dial the intensity down from 11 to 10.
