Golden Boy has recently been negotiating with Affliction for some kind of hybrid boxing/MMA show in January but the two sides haven't agreed to a boxing match that could be the co-main event. Affliction's January 24th show will not, or is not likely to include any boxing. Now word is out that Golden Boy has reneged on their deal with Affliction and the two sides won't be working together in the future. Golden Boy will help promote Affliction's event in January (which has recently been bookended by UFC PPV's and will be counterprogrammed with a free television broadcast of a recent UFC PPV, in all likelihood). Whether or not this news is related to EliteXC's recent death is unknown, but maybe Golden Boy is getting cold feet regarding the MMA scene in the current economy.
