<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">In their third game of the 2003 Southern California Summer Pro League, the Golden State Warriors defeated the Los Angles Lakers in a come from behind 83-81 victory. The Lakers led almost the entire way, holding a sizeable lead for most of the contest. Andris Biedrins continued his solid play, dropping his second straight double-double with a team-high 19 points and game-high 13 rebounds, including two assists, one steal and two blocks in 42 minutes of action. Marlon Parmer was solid again for Golden State registering 16 points, nine points in the first quarter, while adding five rebounds, three assists and two steals. The Warriors fell behind early in the first quarter on 27.8% (5/18) shooting from the field. Which allowed the L.A. Lakers to take and early six point lead after the opening period. The Lakers pushed their lead to 13 points in the second quarter, but Golden State rallied to cut the lead to eight (41-33) in the last minute before the break. The Warriors were unable to cut into the Lakers lead as Los Angeles push it back to 13 points (68-55) after three quarters. Golden State started the fourth quarter on a 10-0 run to cut the lead to three (65-68) with just under nine minutes remaining. </div> link I know that in summer league games, who wins is really not the focus, but I always love seeing a team come back for a win, espeically when they did it by playing tough defense down the stretch. Biedrins had another great game: 19 points, 13 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks, and his steal sealed the Warriors victory.
Nice game Biedrens! This has to be a pretty good confidence boost for him. I would be happy if this was his production in half. 9pts 6rebs 1ast .5stl 1blk per game in his rookie season would be great!
Okay, here's the most impressive thing about Biedrins' last game: 8-8 from the foul line!!! the box score is now posted: http://www.proexposure.com/stories/0716D.cfm Here are a few other things of note: -Biedrins also only had 2 fouls. His shooting % dropped quite a bit, but I'll take that if he doesn't miss a free throw. He's played over 40 minutes the last two games, which shows he's in pretty good shape. -Cisse had a nice game. Remember, he only got 23 minutes to Biedrins 42, but he still had 10 points, 8 boards, and a block. I'd be very happy to see the kid make the team. At least he should get an invitation to their preseason. -Knight is back from his sprained ankle. He played okay, but he'll need to do a lot more if he wants to get an invitation to preseason. It's now unlikely that he'll make the team given the Fisher signing. -Lamizana-he might as well be invisible. He got 7 boards, but didn't do anything else. It's never a good thing when two of the biggest numbers in your stat sheet are fouls and turnovers.
here's an interesting tidbit on biedrin's summer league play, supposedly he's playing the three... "He's playing minutes at the small forward spot this summer in an attempt to challenge him to develop his skills away from the basket and to get him accustomed to defending quicker players." http://www.sfexaminer.com/article/index.cf...71604sp_krueger

He's that quick. BTW Walker, are you kidding me? A below 50% career free throw shooter got 8/8 free throws? Dang maybe it was all mental.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting custodianrules2:</div><div class="quote_post">Dang maybe it was all mental.</div>That is usually the case. Look at a guy like Shaq, some games he shoots 8/9 from the line and others he shoots 4/16.

It's a shameful way to lose if you can't hit those freebies.

Yeah, between Foyle and Biedrins, they're going to need to do something about the team free throw shooting. I still remember a game against Dallas a few years ago when Jamison had 20 points in the 1st quarter and the Warriors had a huge lead through most of the second quarter before Nellie started intentionally fouling Foyle. He did it like four times in a row and Foyle missed nearly all of them. Dallas got back into the ended up winning winnng the game.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting custodianrules2:</div><div class="quote_post">Maybe Foyle should try to bank it in instead or try to underhand it a la Rick Barry.</div>Rick Barry still insists that players should start shooting them granny style. If he can't convince his own kids to do it, I'm not too sure other players will be convinced.

Biedrins Which game was Biedrins 8/8 from the line? I was there for 3 quarters of the game against the Lakers and he missed all but one of his freethrows while I was watching. The kid has got game but needs to spend some serious time in the weight room. He was really pushed around in the paint. This season should be very interesting. I'm looking forward to it.

So who do you think has promise based on the stuff you saw so far?
wow! <div class="quote_poster">Quoting custodianrules2:</div><div class="quote_post">I dunno, you tell me http://www.proexposure.com/stories/0716D.cfm Says he got 8 of 8. Welcome to the board, Warriorslover. So who do you think has promise based on the stuff you saw so far?</div> That's crazy! It's also inaccurate! I saw it with my own eyes. I was thinking how well he will fit in with the W's. Seriously though. Freethrow shooting can make or break a close game and the Warriors need help in that department. I saw JRich play last week in the Proam game and his freethrows were terrible also. Maybe they all should take up the Rick Barry underhander! As far as potential goes, there isn't anyone on the summer league team who has a prayer of making the roster(besides Beidrins and Pietrus of course). I can't believe Paul Grant is on the squad! Sasha whatshisname from the Lakers has a sweet shot.
^ Yeah, you can never trust those statkeepers. For further proof, there's no way he could score 19 points on 7-17 from the field (14 points) plus 8/8 from the line (8 points), 22 doesn't equal 19. His free throw line must be wrong, and possibly his other lines as well. Blah.
