Read this article about another great coach http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writ...ry.sloan/1.html Here's a guy who did not obsess about winning the championship but only wanted to teach players. I've always admired him from afar, because I could not stand Utah (saw Warriors upset/beat the Jazz in 1987) and never like the Mailman. What a tribute that Malone and Stockton never had a bad word to say about Sloan. I hope you youngsters someday find someone like Sloan to admire because I have a hard to finding that kind of guy these days, too much "me, me, me".
I had to do a debate in the JBB "Around the forum" arguing that Jerry Sloan was a better coach than Larry Brown. I think it was me vs. Swish and some other guys. Sloan also doesn't play rookies... though. So some fans might not like him. Especially with the Deron Williams thing last year. But... look at him now?
